FORMER ESPN and Fox Sports star John Brenkus has died aged 53 after battling depression.

Brenkus’s family released a heartbreaking tribute to the sports guru who hosted the Emmy-winning Sport Science show.

Brenkus has died aged 54

A statement released by his family read: “It is with profound sadness that we share the news that John Brenkus has passed away.

“John, co-founder of Base Productions, Founder of Brinx.TV, and co-creator and host of the six-time Emmy award-winning Sport Science had been battling depression.”

John hosted professional athletes on his show Sports Science, to show how far they can test human limits.

The program also occasionally pitted Brenkus himself to showcase what sets these athletes apart from regular fans.

Fans from across the world of sports paid their heartfelt tributes to John shortly after his death was confirmed on social media.
