STARBUCKS customers have cried out after the recent change to a beloved rewards perk.
The coffeehouse giant made the move recently, and while not completely removed, the benefit has been reconfigured.

That means, for example, a guest who brings their own cup or mug, buys their beverage of choice, and potentially a food item, the stars they’d normally get will be doubled due to the personalized effort.
The 25 stars are still available now, but that will change starting on June 24.
Customers immediately took to Reddit in outrage over the adjustment.
“It’s like Starbucks doesn’t want customers anymore,” a longtime fan fumed.
Others pledged to stop going to Starbucks altogether.
“This was my last reason to go daily,” someone else added.
“Guess I’ll be making my coffee at home now.”
“Without this, I’d rather go somewhere else — they don’t even have new drinks anymore,” a third snapped.
But, is it a downgrade?
The short answer is no, not really.
It instead benefits those customers who make larger purchases.
A $30 order, for example, would bring in 60 stars instead of 55 with the change, but a $5 order would drop from 30 to just 10, per The Daily Mail.
Still, those who spend less will have a harder time taking advantage of the freebies that stars earn than they did before.
Starbucks Changes
STARBUCKS has announced a series of updates that will impact all coffeehouses.
These include:
30% of food and beverage items being cut from the menu Self-serve condiment bars brought back Free refills of hot or iced brewed coffees Dine-in customers will be able to get drinks in a ceramic mug Open-door policy reversed Return of handwritten labels on to-go cupsFREEBIES, PLEASE
Customers who redeem 25 stars can get an espresso shot, 100 get a complete brewed coffee or bakery item, and 300 is worth a sandwich.
The 25-star bonus mark has been around since 2022.
Nothing has also changed with the foundational perk of earning one star per dollar spent when earning Starbucks Rewards at the cash register or through the company’s mobile application.
Using a gift card also earns two stars.
Additionally, the 10-cent discount every time a personal cup is used also still applies.
FEE REMOVED
Even with the controversy over the Starbucks Rewards change, other moves the coffeehouse giant has made are getting a positive response from customers.
That includes when it recently stopped charging an extra fee for dairy alternatives and the simplification of an “overly complex menu,” per a comment from CEO Brian Niccol.
Niccol is also continuing the Back to Starbucks initiative, which includes a variety of changes to improve sales performance and customer satisfaction.
One of those changes included cutting down wait times after complaints of over 40-minute coffee trips.
The entire Starbucks summer menu has also been unveiled.
