Arkansas entered the NCAA Tournament as one of the major favorites to win it all at the College World Series in Omaha. On Friday, the Razorbacks lived up to the hype in their regional opener vs. North Dakota State.
In reality, the Bison were not scared to begin the game. They scraped across runs in the 1st and 2nd innings to keep things close initially, but the Razorbacks also had some firepower going early.
Star 2nd baseman Cam Kozeal had his bat going early, hitting an RBI single in the bottom of the 1st that gave Arkansas a 2-1 lead. He also had an RBI double in the bottom of the 3rd that made it 4-2, and that’s where the score stood when he came back up to bat in the bottom of the 5th.
This time, Kozeal blasted a 2-run home run, giving the Razorbacks a much-needed cushion in the game. It was all the offense Arkansas would need in finishing off a 6-2 win to begin its postseason journey.

Kozeal was the driving force offensively in this one, leading Arkansas with 3 hits and 4 RBI, complete with a pair of extra-base hits. Wehiwa Aloy and Logan Maxwell also added RBI in the win.
Aiden Jimenez opened the game on the mound, but it was a pair of Razorback relievers that locked things down. Parker Coil and Landon Beidelschies covered the final 5.1 innings with 8 strikeouts and just 4 hits allowed while not allowing a walk.
With the win, Arkansas moves into the winner’s bracket for the Fayetteville Regional. The Razorbacks will face the winner of Kansas vs. Creighton on Saturday night.
