HAYDOCK1.48: Fine Interview 4/1 (1pt)2.23: Jasour 10/3 (1pt)3.33: Alyanaabi 4/1 (1pt) YORK3.15: Term Of Endearment 3/1 (1pt)Fine Interview
Fine Interview was a neck third to Dark Thirty at Doncaster in March and now returns to Haydock with the potential benefit of having had that run.
He tends to go well off a break but it was more so his 7lb rise that I’m looking at, where it didn’t seem to hinder him at all suggesting that the handicapper may still have some catching up to do with this horse this season.
Despite 17 runners I can’t see past the favourite ridden by William Buick who has to be of big interest on board the Wathnan Racing-owned grey who looks set to progress.
Jasour
This listed contest is an odd one featuring a couple of top group horses like Jasour.
The grey colt was only just over two lengths behind Inisherin at Royal Ascot last year but has failed to get on terms with any subsequent race in Group 1 company since.
So much so he had to go for a wind op and has been absent since his 15th placed finish at the Curragh.
That said, if he’s even back to 90% coming back into a listed contest could well see him fly home provided the wind surgery has had the desired effect, which it often can.
Jim Crowley is on board too which often boosts his chances in these kind of races.
Alyanaabi
Looked desitned for great things with his group placings as a two-year-old in 2023 but as a three-year-old couldn’t muster a better finish than 4th of five.
But once gelded in October and reappearing this season came home strongly over course and distance earlier this month.
A lot of his success is only over 7f so it’s great to see him back at this preferred trip as his 2024 campaign was an attempt to see how he’d fare over further (1m-1m2f) and despite going well wasn’t quite his ideal distance.
Now gelded he could progress much further on his second run since that op.
Term Of Endearment
Moved to the William Haggas yard earleir this year and featured in a hotly contested Group 2 contest at Meydan in April.
But she’s back on just her second run for the trainer here and looks a great bet considering her 3/1 price.
In her last two runs in Britain she’s won very nicely ahead of Night Sparkle at both York and Goodwood over this distance and is sure to give another good account of things back in Britain in a fillies Group 3 contest.
