The Harry Brook-led team defeated the West Indies by 238 runs in the series opener at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Thursday, May 29. England posted a total of 400/8 after being asked to bat first. The home team bowlers then dismantled the West Indies batting lineup, dismissing them for just 162 runs.
The shot looked destined for six, but Carse, who initially misjudged it, adjusted his position and grabbed it with one hand. The effort drew comparisons to Ben Stokes’ famous 2019 World Cup catch and left both fans and players in disbelief. The video of the moment quickly went viral.

I Thought It Was Going Miles Over My Head - Brydon Carse
Brydon Carse admitted that captain Harry Brook had been constantly adjusting his fielding position before the catch. Carse said he initially thought the ball was sailing over his head and went for it with one hand.
"And then obviously, as soon as he hit it, I'll be honest with you—initially, I thought it was going miles over my head, so I had this one-handed catch in mind. Then, a couple of seconds later, it was still in front of my face, so I decided to just roll with it.
