Georgia is reportedly in the lead for an elite tight end prospect in the class of 2026.
According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong, the Bulldogs are the team “to beat” for 5-star tight end Kaiden Prothro. A Georgia native, Prothro has made multiple visits to Athens during his recruitment and has another one coming up where he’ll be joined by multiple other elite high school recruits, per Wiltfong.
“He is no stranger to the Georgia campus,” Wiltfong said Thursday. “The in-state recruit has spent a lot of time around Kirby Smart, [tight ends coach] Todd Hartley and this coaching staff. I think Georgia is the one to beat going into official visits. Alabama, Florida, Texas are also some of the major contenders but Georgia, what they’ve done with the tight end position … Georgia is in really good position coming into this visit.”
Prothro is one of the best high school recruits in the country regardless of class or position. He’s regarded as the No. 26 overall player and the No. 3 tight end in the nation, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also ranked as the No. 3 player from the state of Georgia.

Listed at 6-foot-6, Prothro could be an early contributor for whichever program he ends up signing with out of high school. He attends Bowdon High School in Bowdon, Georgia.
Georgia currently has 10 commits in the class of 2026, but that’s expected to change in the coming weeks and months. UGA’s class ranks No. 11 nationally entering the weekend, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
There is no timetable for Prothro to make his official commitment.
