AUSTIN (KXAN) — Following Wednesday’s storms, power companies in Central Texas continue to work to restore power in some areas.
How to check for Central Texas power outagesAs of 6:45 a.m. Thursday, Austin Energy’s outage map showed there were 452 active outages, which affected more than 30,000 customers.
“Because the damage is so substantial, outages and restoration activities are still expected to extend for multiple days,” AE said. “There is currently no estimated time of restoration for outages related to the storm.”

“Stay at least 35 feet away from downed lines and never use an object to move a downed wire. Never touch anything or anyone in contact with a power line. When a live wire touches the ground, electricity fans out throughout the area,” AE said.
Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative (BEC) was also dealing with two major outages that were initially impacting more than 800 customers. The utility has since restored more than 400.
BEC’s outage map showed that both outages occurred shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday, and as of 6:10 a.m. Thursday, crews were still out working to restore power.
