(KRON) -- A man was arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman inside her San Jose residence last week, police announced Wednesday.
The San Jose Police Department responded to the residence on May 22 at 2:22 a.m. on the report of a burglary and sexual assault. Officers learned that the suspect, later identified as Cong Tran, 40, of San Jose, had entered the home through an unlocked door. Tran, police said, found the woman asleep in her bedroom and covered her mouth while he sexually assaulted her.
The suspect fled the residence before police arrived.
San Jose patrol officers recognized the suspect’s description as Tran, who they had contact with on the previous night, the department said. Tran was located by police in San Jose around 8:30 p.m. and arrested.
Tran was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for charges related to burglary and sexual assault.
