Morello took to Instagram on Tuesday, May 27 to document the occasion with a carousel of photos by Boston-based photographer Marc Lacatell and a caption explaining his stance.

“FANTASTIC day at @bostoncalling rocking with dear friend @mrchuckd, supporting my alma mater @harvard’s resistance to Trump regime’s education bullying, standing up for my man @springsteen and sticking it to fascist minded fools one phat riff at a time. Authoritarians and billionaires think this country belongs to them but as Woody Guthrie reminds us, this land is your land. #GoCrimson,” he wrote.

Morello played a medley of Rage Against the Machine’s “Testify” and “Take the Power Back,” along with “Freedom,” and “Snakecharmer,” as well as a cover of the Woody Guthrie classic “This Land Is Your Land,” according to setlist.fm.

Also included in Morello’s set was a performance of Audioslave’s “Like a Stone,” in a tribute to the late Chris Cornell, who the guitarist collaborated with in that band, as well as covers of Bruce Springsteen’s “The Ghost of Tom Joad” and John Lennon’s “Power to the People.”

Fans and some notables gave love to Morello in the comments on Instagram with Chuck D posting, “????.”

“Seeing you and chuckd on socials was my moment of FOMO after missing out covid Boston calling. Thank you for teaching me what standing up meant as a teen. And thank you for the soundtrack to resistance a quarter century later,” added another.
