While chatting exclusively with Parade, the “Love Will Lead You Back” singer, 63, reveals that she had traveled to Hawaii “to die” after she received the diagnosis in July 2022.
“I was at the Blue Note in Hawaii because I said I'm going to go there to die,” she tells Parade. “[I said], 'I want to stay in Hawaii. I'll go there, and I promise you... Let me play the Blue Note. I'll walk on stage. I'll sit at night in my little stool, and I promise you, I'll go back and forth [to the hospital there].'"
The singer tells Parade she thought to herself, "If I crash, then I'll crash here [in Hawaii]." She says that she would even perform with a PICC line (also known as a Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter) in her arm.
Dayne also learned that "my well-being isn't depending on my audience's well-being" but says that her fans were still "there for me."
