Cristiano Ronaldo has offered an ambiguous update on his future at Al Nassr after what could’ve been his final appearance.
The footballing legend may well have played his final minutes for the Saudi Arabian club in their 3-2 league defeat against Al Fateh.
Ronaldo is on course to leave Al Nassr this summer, although it’s not fully confirmedGettyRonaldo scored his 35th goal of the season for Al Nassr as he heads into the final weeks of his contract in Riyadh.
He is yet to sign a new deal with the club and has therefore increased speculation over where he’ll play in the 2025/26 campaign.
And after Monday’s loss in the Saudi Pro League, he chose not to give any concrete update of what’s potentially in store this summer.
“This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all,” he posted on X.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino recently revealed ‘discussions’ that are taking place about Ronaldo potentially playing at the Club World Cup.
Al Nassr haven’t qualified for the revamped tournament, which takes place in the USA and will begin on June 14.
Ronaldo could possibly join Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.
However, the 40-year-old’s camp have been reportedly left unhappy with Infantino’s comments.
talkSPORT understands that Ronaldo could potentially sign a short-term deal at a Club World Cup side before returning to Al Nassr.
However, there are said to be no plans for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner to depart on a loan deal.
A cryptic post on social media has raised more doubt on his futureGettyRecent reports say an unnamed Brazilian club made an offer for Ronaldo to play for them at the Club World Cup.
This could be one of Palmeiras, Flamengo, Fluminense or Botafogo.
It’s been a difficult season for Ronaldo at Al Nassr as they finished third in the Saudi Pro League.
They missed out on qualification for the AFC Champions League Elite and ended the campaign without a trophy.
Despite this, Ronaldo still managed to score 35 goals in 41 matches in all competitions for the fifth club of his glittering career.
Should he leave Al Nassr, it remains to be seen who he will sign for next as any hints of retirement remain quiet.
