“I’ve always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him. He has gone absolutely CRAZY!” Trump wrote in a social media post on Sunday night.
The attack was the largest aerial assault since Russia’s full-scale invasion of the country in February 2022, according to Ukrainian officials. At least 12 people were killed and dozens injured.
“I’m not happy with what Putin’s doing. He’s killing a lot of people. And I don’t know what the hell happened to Putin,” Trump told reporters earlier Sunday as he departed northern New Jersey.
In his social media post, Trump also warned that if Putin wants to conquer all of Ukraine, it will “lead to the downfall of Russia!”
“Everything out of his mouth causes problems, I don’t like it, and it better stop,” Trump wrote.

The US president has increasingly voiced irritation at Putin and the inability to resolve the now three-year-old war.
Separately, Trump revealed that he was delaying a 50% tariff on EU imports to the US until 9 July following a “very nice call” with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Trump threatened last Friday to intensify his trade war after expressing frustrations that talks were not moving quickly enough, saying he wanted steep new import taxes to start on 1 June.
“(Mrs von der Leyen) called me… and she asked for an extension on the June 1 date,” Mr Trump said.
“We had a very nice call and I agreed to move it… I believe July 9 will be the date, that was the date she requested.
Von der Leyen said in a post on X she had a “good” phone call with Trump.
“The EU and US share the world’s most consequential and close trade relationship. Europe is ready to advance talks swiftly and decisively,” she wrote.
