Mark Hunt has asserted that his legal battle with the UFC, Brock Lesnar, and Dana White is still very much ongoing.
“I never consented to fighting a doping guy who’s cheating,” Hunt said during a passionate interview with talkSPORT.com.
Hunt fought in the UFC for eight years from 2010Getty He met Brock Lesnar at UFC 200 in July 2016Getty Hunt said Lesnar was a ‘different level of strength’ and is currently suing his former opponentGettyThis narrative seems to be the overarching theme behind the former UFC heavyweight’s case.
Hunt sued Lesnar, Dana White, and the UFC after he was defeated by ‘The Beast Incarnate’ in July 2016.
The New Zealander accused the three parties of racketeering and fraud after Lesnar tested positive for a banned substance before their fight at UFC 200.
He claimed the UFC knew Lesnar was doping, but still allowed the fight to happen for financial gain.
The initial lawsuit was scrapped, but it was revived in 2021 when an appeals court reversed its decision on the dismissal of battery, fraud and conspiracy claims.
However, last month, those involved were cleared of the shocking charges and it seemed the case was closed.
It was found that Hunt failed to prove those involved knowingly misled him that Lesnar was using performance-enhancing drugs, despite previous awareness of the situation.
But, in an honest conversation with talkSPORT.com, Hunt, 51, revealed he is still very much pursuing the case.
“I haven’t lost the case… of course, it’s still going.” he said.
“That’s why I’m saying people don’t understand or know what the case actually is.
Hunt felt Lesnar's wrath at UFC 200
“Brock Lesnar was a different level of strength … he threw me around like a little kid.”
Hunt’s lawsuit against Lesnar is very complicatedtalkSPORT“Today (May 14), it was denied in the [United States Court of Appeals for the] Ninth Circuit for rehearing.
“So, what that means, for me, is it goes to en banc, it goes higher, then after en banc, it goes to super en banc, after that it is the Supreme Court.
“There’s a few different avenues, and what this case does is it means the statute needs to change… it needs to change these laws.
“I never consented to fighting a doping guy who’s cheating. Never, not once, and then battery has already been affirmed.”
Lesnar’s fight with Hunt was his last-ever in the UFC, and he beat the New Zealand man via unanimous decision on the night, with both men combining at a whopping 530 lbs.
He got the better of Hunt on the ground in the opening stages, successfully taking his opponent to the canvas and keeping him there.

It was his first UFC win in over six years, but Lesnar was fined £188,000 ($250,000) and suspended from the promotion for 12 months following the doping scandal.
“My career, my earnings, it affected everything. I signed that contract to fight a normal person like me,” Hunt added.
“I’m really strong for someone of my size, [when] I normally fight guys they know.
“Brock Lesnar was a different level of strength and it was hard to get [him down]. I mean, he threw me around like a little kid.
“I had no chance against someone with that strength. Like I said, the strength difference was [astounding].”
Hunt said Lesnar’s strength was ‘astounding’GettyHunt confirmed with talkSPORT.com that he has taken up the role as a pro se litigant (someone who represents himself without a lawyer) to fight his case now.
“I have to learn about law,” he continued. “I have to learn about process and I’m f***ing glad.
“I thank God that I have had an amazing partner who’s super smart. We’ve been battling this together, this David and Goliath f***ing thing for years.
“It’s nice, and it hasn’t just been me, it’s been me and my whole family.
“People don’t realise and understand that this affects everybody that is in my circle.
“How was I supposed to f***ing know he’s cheating. People say, ‘You agreed to it.’
Hunt retired from MMA with a 13-14-1 (1 NC) record before transitioning into boxingGetty He has no plans to make an MMA return but did mention a potential bare-knuckle debutGetty“Yeah, I don’t think so man unless I’m a f***ing magician or some s***.
“I would have had to go and take his blood, test it, and then I would have said, ‘Okay, I do know that he is cheating’.”
Hunt competed in the UFC from 2010-2018, contesting for the promotion’s heavyweight strap on his ninth bout against Fabricio Werdum, who knocked his opponent out with a flying knee.
He made his name as the smaller guy who knocked out some of the best heavyweights in MMA history, including Roy Nelson, Frank Mir, and Derrick Lewis.
‘The Super Samoan’ retired from the sport after a defeat to Justin Willis in December 2018, but, two years later, he put on the heavier gloves and transitioned into boxing.
He lost his first fight, but scored a massive upset over Sonny Bill Williams in his second, stopping the All Blacks rugby legend with a barrage of nasty blows.
Hunt knocked out people for fun during his heydayGetty - ContributorHunt’s lawsuit with the UFC et al., seems to be more complex than it seems.
The plaintiff seems certain that he has a case on his hands, though it seems unlikely he will ever get anything from it.
But what would Hunt say to Lesnar now if he got the opportunity?
“I’ve spoken to him, he’s called me, I’ve called him… probably about three or four months ago,” Hunt concluded.
“The conversation was: he said, ‘I wasn’t cheating. I have no idea what’s going on here Mark.’
“I’m sitting, thinking, ‘You were never doping?’ [he’s saying], ‘No never Mark.’
“But your blood results say otherwise, you were caught two weeks prior to the fight twice.
“Then you were caught the night of. That’s evidence. That’s facts.
“I didn’t say that to him. That’s what he said to me, and in my mind, I’m thinking, ‘How can you say that to me when I’ve got all the facts?
“I’ve got your your case. I’ve got your blood result. You’re telling me that you’re clean?
“But I think his lawyers are lying to him, because at the end of the day, I said to him, ‘You just gotta tell the truth and then you don’t have to worry about me taking your money, or putting you in jail.”
Hunt doesn’t plan on making a return to MMA anytime soon, as he can’t even bring himself to watch the sport anymore.
However, he did reveal that there have been conversations with Conor McGregor‘s bare-knuckle promotion BKFC.
