(KRON) – A mother’s necklace and purse were taken from her while carrying her toddler, according to the Palo Alto Police Department.
The robbery occurred in the 300 block of Hamilton Avenue in the University South neighborhood around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The victim was carrying her toddler and walking through a parking lot when a man grabbed her neck from behind and demanded her purse, police said. The assailant subsequently forcibly stole her purse and necklaces. After taking her belongings, he pushed her to the ground and fled the scene on foot. She then contacted authorities.
Police and the Palo Alto Fire Department responded to the scene.
3 guns, knife found in Suisun City arrest: PDThe victim said she felt pain in her knee and neck. However, the toddler was unharmed, according to Palo Alto PD. Paramedics treated the victim at the scene.
The suspect is currently at large. The suspect, according to police, was described by the victim as a Hispanic man with short black hair and a thin build. He was wearing a blue shirt and blue shorts.
Per Palo Alto PD, there have not been any recent similar incidents in the city.
