Boise State AD mocks new CFP seeding rules: ‘Call it the Boise State policy’ ...Middle East

News by : (SATURDAY DOWN SOUTH) -

Boise State athletic director Jeramiah Dickey had an interesting response to the new College Football Playoff seeding model that will be adapted in 2025.

The CFP announced the changes on Thursday, confirming that the top-4 seeds in the 12-team CFP will receive a first-round bye regardless of whether or not they earned a conference championship. This represents a departure from 2024 when Mountain West champion Boise State and Big 12 champion Arizona State both earned first-round byes despite being ranked behind non-champs from the SEC and Big Ten in the final committee rankings.

Dickey took a jab at the new rule, asking for it to be called the “Boise State policy” moving forward.

“When the system is created to keep you down, you fight like hell to break it,” Dickey wrote on social media.

.@CFBPlayoff, please call it the Boise State policy…legacy is important…would make us feel better. When the system is created to keep you down, you fight like hell to break it. Nothing to lose…Always What’s Next! ? Believe in epic! 1-0! #BleedBlue ?? t.co/1tRJhuJUXT

The decision to move to a straight seeding model was unanimously approved by the College Football Playoff management committee, which includes Mountain West Commissioner Gloria Nevarez. Boise State is set to move to the Pac-12 ahead of the 2026 college football season.

Boise State ultimately lost to Penn State in the quarterfinals of last year’s CFP. Had this seeding model been in place a year ago, Boise State would have been the No. 9 seed and would have played Indiana on the road in the first round of the Playoff.
