Three students from the Windsor area will move on to the statewide Civics Bee competition.

Middle school students competed Wednesday in the 2025 National Civics Bee regional competition hosted by the Windsor Area Chamber of Commerce. Competitors tested their civics knowledge with a live quiz against their peers and answered questions from judges, according to a Windsor Chamber news release.

Dahlia J. from American Legacy Academy in Windsor took home first place and a $500 cash prize, Makenzie B. from American Legacy Academy won second place, and Issac Y. from Liberty Common Elementary School in Fort Collins won third place.

The three regional finalists have the chance to compete in the Colorado Chamber of Commerce’s state-level competition on May 30 in Denver, the release said. The top three winners at the state civics competition will receive $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place and $250 for third place

“We’re proud to continue working with our local chamber partners for the third consecutive year, reinforcing our commitment to fostering active participation in government and democracy among young Coloradans,” Colorado Chamber CEO Loren Furman said in the release.

The state champion will advance to the National Civics Bee competition in the fall in Washington, D.C., for a chance to win between $15,000 and $100,000.

“Investing in our future means investing in civic education, and it’s inspiring to see this program continue to grow every year,” Furman said. “By equipping students with the knowledge and skills to participate in our democracy, we’re building a brighter future for our state and nation.”
