Saturday horse racing tips

HAYDOCK1.50: Teroomm 11/2 each-way (1pt)2.25: Running Lion 15/8 (1pt)3.00: Big Mojo 7/2 (1pt) GOODWOOD2.05: Amiloc 5/2 (1pt) CURRAGH3.40: Hotazhell 8/1 each-way (1pt)

Teroomm

Haydock hosts a great Premier Raceday on Saturday filled with top-class races and plenty to dig into.

The first race is a Class 3 handicap at 1.15pm but doesn’t appeal with any standout runners from the 14.

The three-year-old Betfred Silver Bowl Handicap a Class 2 contest over 1m, is the first of the tips for Saturday though.

There’s also currently 14 runners for this one where Teroomm is amongst the favourites for trainer Roger Varian and ridden by Silvestre De Sousa, who appeals the most.

The Iffraaj colt is still a great each-way play despite being amongst the shortest price as the 90-rated horse still looks dangerously unexposed after two wins this season.

Running Lion

The huge fillies listed stakes at 2.25pm promises plenty with the highly rated Running Lion a big favourite but still a nice price to provide a bit of value.

The grey mare is five-years-old now and on a three run winless streak but is still rated far and away well ahead of the rest of the field.

There’s potential for some behind in the betting to improve and make a challenge though.

Diamond Rain appeals even if just looking at the fact William Buick boards the Godolphin and Charlie Appleby-trained filly.

She’s also very unexposed and makes her first run since November when fourth in a listed race at Doncaster.

Back to firmer ground though she’s got a better chance of improving, but up against Running Lion who’s surely going to bounce back.

Big Mojo

Three-year-old colt won nicely at Ascot’s Group 3 Commonwealth Cup Trial Stakes in April at 4/1.

That was his first run since having a wind op so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see even more improvement from this consistent sprinter.

He’s already scooped over £184,000 in prize money for trainer Mick Appleby.

They do however, face a tough task against Symbol Of Honour, the Godolphin grey who won the Carnarvon Stakes at Newbury last Saturday.

That was a great win beating the favourite Ides Of March comfortably, but I think Big Mojo has enough to go on and win yet again.

They often say horses benefit from their first run after a wind op and really improve on their second run onwards.

That’s also the case running for the second time as a three-year-old.

Amiloc

Amiloc has been very impressive and was tipped previously to win and has justified support each time, winning all three of his three runs.

Now rated 102 the Postponed gelding is still a big price in a wide open contest featuring seven other runners with great potential.

But I can’t see past the Ralph Beckett-trained horse with Richard Kingscote on board at what could be a huge value price.

Hotazhell

The Curragh also holds a massive meeting with the Group 1 Irish 2,000 Guineas taking most of the focus.

Field Of Gold is the big favourite and Juddmonte have the two frontrunners with Cosmic Year also up there with potential, who has Oisin Murphy aboard.

Field Of Gold beat Wimbledon Hawkeye by a big margin at Newmarket in April but failed to justify favouritism next time out in the Group 1 2000 Guineas.

Cosmic Year is unexposed and not yet been seen over 1m so could be anything.

Rashabar is a bit of a punt too who has great form over 6f but has suited the step up to 7f so the extra furlong may see more and at 14/1 shouldn’t be discounted off an overall rating of 113.

However, Hotazhell is one with the 1m form, in group 1 and Group 2 company including over course and distance who appeals the most over the potential of a bigger priced horse winning.
