I don’t know about you, but lawn care in the middle of the summer is just about the worst thing in the world. It’s something you have to do whether you want to or not. In my part of the world, the average temperature is similar to hell’s kitchen in the height of the summer, so the last thing I want to do is push a mower outside. This is why I wanted a robot lawn mower. I knew it would help maintain my sanity during those super hot lawn care days.

The setup was mostly straightforward, though it’s not completely plug-and-play. You start by unboxing the mower and placing the charging pad (no garage included, just the parking mat). It does come with a really generous extension cable, which was great since our outdoor outlet wasn’t nearby. We used that for a bit until we had a new outlet installed closer to the mower’s home base.
Cable management was a bit of a pain, though. Between the main power cable and the wire that runs to the Signal Enhancement Antenna, you’ve got some long lines stretched through your yard. You do get plenty of stakes to pin them down, but it’s still something to work around. Once everything’s placed, you use the app to continue the setup.
Bluetooth pairing was easy, and the app walked me through connecting to WiFi and the 4G network. I ran into some hiccups with WiFi initially, so I moved forward with the 4G setup. Navimow includes the first 3 years of service with the purchase (for my model), but after that, it’s about $32.50 annually (as of May 2025). You can run the mower without the 4G subscription, but you lose a lot of the smart features like remote control, GPS tracking, automatic updates, and weather-based scheduling. That part feels a little frustrating, especially when you consider competitors like the Husqvarna Automower 450X, which includes 10 years of connectivity in the box.
The lawn mapping process through the app was relatively easy, though manually guiding the mower along the boundary lines using on-screen controls was a bit clunky. It was tough to keep it perfectly straight. This was more of a user error instead of a fault of the device, though. Still, once the map was set, it stuck to the boundaries well, even in tricky areas. We’ve got a privacy fence and some zones we don’t want the mower near, and it’s done a good job respecting those.
Now let’s talk about navigation and accuracy. The EFLS 3.0 system, which uses RTK, Visual SLAM, and VIO, is clearly doing its job. I was impressed with how precise the mower is. It has stayed well within its mapped area and hasn’t missed a beat. Even when we unplugged it for several days, it picked up exactly where it left off. I haven’t seen it miss any patches or wander off track.
When it comes to obstacle avoidance, the mower is actually pretty sharp. It avoids our dogs and even birds with no problem. That said, it did get stuck a couple of times on dirt mounds left behind from a landscaping project. So it’s not flawless, but it’s definitely more aware than I expected.
As for cut quality, I’ve been happy with the results. We like to keep the lawn as short as possible, so we have the mowing level set to 2 inches. The mower has no issue handling thick patches or uneven terrain. Our push mower struggles with those spots, but the X350 powers through without complaint. The mowing pattern can look odd at the beginning, but it fills everything in nicely and doesn’t leave behind any missed spots. It does leave faint lines from the wheels, but they fade within a day.
Our yard isn’t especially hilly, but we do have a few dips and a mix of vegetation. The mower has handled terrain and traction really well. The only time it’s slipped was on very wet or muddy patches, which I’d expect from any mower.
One of my favorite parts? It’s quiet. I mean, really quiet. You could run it at night without disturbing anyone. We’ve set it to mow a couple of times a week because our grass grows fast, but even once a week would probably keep things looking tidy.
That said, the app experience could be better. It relies heavily on Bluetooth for a stable connection, and if the mower strays too far from your device, it drops the link. It usually recovers on its own, but it’s something Segway could improve.
Maintenance has been easy. Grass clippings brush off without much effort, and I’ve only had to rinse the mower once. The blades and sensors are easy to access and clean, which is a big plus. I did notice recently that the top of the mower has collected a few scratches. We aren’t sure from what. There aren’t any low-hanging tree branches that it could hit, and its mowing area is clear of any damaging materials. That is a bit of a mystery.
When it comes to battery life, I’ve been very happy with it so far. After mowing our yard, it still has around 30-35% battery left. I would estimate that the total runtime might be lower than the published spec of 200 minutes. It might be closer to 179 minutes, given that the average mowing time of 2h 12m burns 65-70% of the battery in our yard.
So, is it worth the money? I think so, with one caveat. The X350 performs really well and holds its own against other top-tier mowers. Its coverage area is larger than most in its class, and it handles the lawn beautifully. My only hesitation is the recurring 4G subscription. While I appreciate the reliability it brings, it feels like something that should be included for longer, especially at this price point. Still, Segway’s customer support has been responsive and helpful, which adds some peace of mind.
All in all, I’m happy with the Navimow X350. It’s not perfect, but it’s taken one of my most dreaded chores and turned it into something I barely have to think about. That alone makes it worth considering.
