Defending champion Australia will take on South Africa in the third edition of the WTC 2025 final. England’s Richard Illingworth and Chris Gaffaney from New Zealand will be the on-field umpires for the WTC 2025 final.
“We are pleased to announce an experienced team of match officials for the World Test Championship Final at Lord’s, marking the culmination of a highly competitive two-year cycle of Test matches played around the world,” Jay Shah stated in an ICC release.
“We strive to select the most qualified and deserving officials for all matches, and we are confident they will perform admirably. On behalf of the ICC, I wish them all the best and hope they enjoy this assignment." Jay Shah added.
Richard Illingworth’s third WTC final as match official
Illingworth and Gaffaney had officiated the World T20 World Cup final 2024 and the WTC final 2023 together as on-field umpires. Both umpires have officiated big finals several times in their career. The umpiring will be top-notch for the big final.
Indian officials for the WTC 2025 final
Menon also served at the T20 World Cup 2021 final as a TV umpire. Former Indian cricketer Jagadeesh Srinath will be the referee of the match.
Pat Cummins will lead Australia, and Temba Bavuma will captain the South Africa team for the WTC final 2025. The final will be played at Lord's.
