The teenage batting sensation has taken Indian cricket by storm with his fearless strokeplay and raw power, finishing IPL 2025 with 252 runs in just seven innings. His jaw-dropping 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans and a cool-headed fifty against Chennai Super Kings left fans and legends buzzing about the upcoming superstar.

As the left-hander set out for the next chapter of his journey, Ashok Kumar, who coached him in Bihar U19 and senior teams, predicted that Vaibhav would make his India debut in two years.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s rapid progress, mental sharpness, and game awareness have already impressed many cricket legends, and his coach said that if he improves his fitness and fielding, he will be seen in an Indian jersey within two years.

I really think the BCCI will give him a chance: Ashok Kumar

The coach further added, “So, all these things show the bright future this kid has. My prediction is, if Vaibhav improves his fitness and his fielding, then in the next 2 years, he will be in the senior T20 Indian team. I really think the BCCI will give him a chance, as, barring two to four players, the rest of them in the T20I team are majorly 25 or below years old.”

India U19 is set for a tough tour of England, starting with a 50-over warm-up match, followed by a five-match one-day series and two multi-day games. This tour is an important part of India’s preparation for the 2026 U19 Men’s World Cup, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi will get his first taste of English conditions.

Vaibhab Suryavanshi wants to play for India at any cost

The coach said that the way the RR batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi adapts to the situation so quickly sets him apart from others. He also addressed the perception that Vaibhav is an aggressive player, saying he has played in that way since childhood. The Bihar coach stressed that Vaibhav’s intent, style of play, and attitude will remain the same in the coming matches as well.

Kumar signed off by saying, “The way he talks now, he has become stronger than ever before. His determination has increased as he now says constantly, ‘Sir, mei India khel ke hi rahunga' (I will play for India at any cost). So, we feel very proud that such a kid has come from Bihar. When he returns from the England tour, I won't be surprised if his name is mentioned for the Duleep and Deodhar Trophies.”
