Egypt warns of extreme heatwave starting Friday ...Egypt

News by : (EGYPT INDEPENDENT) -

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has issued a warning regarding the upcoming weather conditions across the country, anticipating a rise in temperatures from Friday through Monday.

Forecasters predict the peak of this heatwave will occur on Sunday and Monday, with temperatures expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius in Cairo and the Nile Delta region. Governorates in Upper Egypt’s southern areas could see highs of 43 degrees Celsius.

Weather maps also caution about the potential for morning mist or fog formation this Thursday (tomorrow) over northern Egypt. This could be dense in some areas, particularly on highways and near water bodies, possibly leading to near-zero visibility in parts of the Eastern Delta and North Sinai, consequently reducing horizontal visibility on roads.

Overall, extremely hot weather is anticipated across all regions.

On Friday, daytime temperatures will be hot in Greater Cairo, the Nile Delta, South Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt. Southern Upper Egypt will experience severe heat, while northern coastal areas will be mildly hot. Nights are expected to be moderately warm in most regions.

The EMA specifically warned of water mist/fog forming on agricultural and fast roads, as well as those near water bodies. This fog is expected to be dense in areas extending from northern Egypt to Greater Cairo, Canal Cities, and central Sinai. Weather maps also detected wind activity in parts of southern Egypt, which could stir up sand and dust in areas of South Sinai and the Red Sea Governorate intermittently.
