Will Wade and NC State added a big transfer piece to their incoming recruiting class on Thursday afternoon.
Darrion Williams, who began his career at Nevada before spending a pair of seasons at Texas Tech, has committed to the Wolfpack, he announced on social media. Williams posted a photo to his X account of himself in Wolfpack gear, as you can see below:

— Darrion Williams (@OfficialDW03) May 22, 2025Williams, originally from Las Vegas, signed with Nevada out of the class of 2022 and played with the Wolf Pack (two words, not one) for a single season. In 33 games and 30 starts, he totaled 7.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists en route to Mountain West Freshman of the Year honors.
He then transferred to Texas Tech and emerged as a standout player for Grant McCasland’s team. He landed on the Big 12 All-Newcomer team and was a all-conference third-team selection after averaging 11.4 points and 7.5 rebounds while starting all but 2 games. In 2024-25, he was a all-conference first-team pick as he averaged 15.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists for a Red Raiders team that ultimately made the Elite Eight.
After the season, Williams declared for the NBA Draft while retaining his eligibility. But after going through the combine, he opted to return for a final year of college while entering the transfer portal.
He now joins NC State as the seventh incoming transfer of Wade’s initial recruiting class. The Wolfpack also have 3 freshman signees, including Top 30 player Matt Able.
