News by : (The Hill) -

New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced Wednesday that street signs in Manhattan have been “temporarily co-named” to honor individual players on the New York Knicks as the team advances to the 2025 NBA Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 2000.

The city installed blue-and-orange street signs on 15 street corners across Manhattan, with the street number corresponding to the player’s jersey number.

“The Knicks embody the spirit of New York — resilient, passionate, and unstoppable," Adams said in a statement. "On the path to a championship, we recognize the hard work and determination that has gotten this team to the Eastern Conference Finals and we're celebrating this team by temporarily co-naming our city streets so all New Yorkers can celebrate their Knicks pride.”

The New York Knicks are set to face off against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night in the first game of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Knicks enter the series after defeating the Boston Celtics, marking their first conference finals appearance in 25 years.

The New York City Department of Transportation released a short video showing the signs getting installed on Wednesday. They will stay up for the remainder of the Knicks's playoff run, the city said in a press release.

"The New York Knicks are part of the fabric of our city, and have the best fans in the NBA," New York City Department of Transportation Commissioner Ydanis Rodríguez said in a statement. "The entire city has your back as the Eastern Conference Finals are underway, and we are proud to rep the blue and orange, including on our street signs.”
