After an emphatic start to three days of action Thursday, the Class 1A-5A track and field championships raged on for the final two days Friday and Saturday at Jefferson County Stadium in Lakewood.
A slew of local athletes earned state championships, and dozens earned spots on the championship podium with top 9 finishes.
Here is a look at the local highlights from Friday’s and Saturday’s action:
FRIDAY
Resurrection Christian claimed the top 3 spots in the 3A boys 800-meter run. Cougars senior Jackson Fagerlin placed first (1:54.59), followed by his two teammates, freshman Lincoln Fagerlin (1:56.33), who is Jackson’s brother, and sophomore Trevor Lim (1:56.84).
Resurrection Christian’s Barker, a senior, won 3A girls pole vault with a personal record height of 11′ 8″. University senior Cadence Schedlbauer was third (11′ 5″) in the tightly contested event.
Local athletes claimed the top 3 spots in 3A girls triple jump. University sophomore Ruby Naber won the event (38′ 4″) followed by her junior Bulldogs teammate Jordan Halley (37′ 11.25″) and Eaton senior Kaylee Staudinger (34′ 9.75″).

Peak to Peak junior Ethan Rathke (14′) was second, followed by Eaton senior Ryan Martinez (14′). University sophomore Crew McDowell (13′ 6″) and senior Robert Wilke (13′) were fourth and fifth, respectively. Their senior Bulldogs teammate Connor Bonnell placed ninth (12′ 6″).
Roosevelt junior Braelyn Bailey defended her 4A girls high jump title with a 4A record of 5′ 9″, topping Windsor’s senior runner-up Reyleigh Hess (5′ 3″). Hess’s freshman teammate, Rylee Martin, tied for ninth (4′ 11″) in the same event. A year ago, Bailey won the 4A title with a height of 5′ 7″.
Resurrection Christian senior Joy Koole was second (11:27.46) behind Alamosa star senior Elizabeth McQuitty (11:17.35) in the 3A girls 3,200. Eaton sophomore Delaney Reuter was third (2:16.92) in the 3A girls 800.
Resurrection Christian junior Mwanje Peterson placed third (20′ 7.5″), and Eaton senior Brody Niswender was seventh (20′ 4″) in 3A boys long jump. Roosevelt junior Tayber Konrad placed third (54′ 1″) in 4A boys shot put.
Frontier Academy junior Matthew Hayden placed fifth (10:01.79) in the 3A boys 3,200, while his teammate, senior Kalid Fanning, was ninth (10:07.10) in the same event.
Windsor’s team of Olivia Cruz, Maya Brasch, Madelyn Von Tersch and Kiana Cumings was second (1:38.90) in the 4A girls 800 relay, a hair behind Niwot (1:38.86).

(Photo by Andy Cross/The Denver Post)University’s team of Sullivan Gesso, Bertram Harvey, Brevon Doss and Ethan Baker was third (1:29.87) in the 3A boys 800 relay, one spot ahead of Resurrection Christian’s team of Evan VanPelt, Wyatt Constant, Ryan Olson and Britton Walstron (1:30.66). Northridge’s quartet of Jermaine Wilson, Ty Andrews, Samuel Evans and Sage Olsen was eighth (1:31.70) in the same event.
The Roosevelt team of Gabe Santos, Houston Howell, Colten Schlagel and Owen Hays placed fourth (1:28.89) in the 4A boys 800 relay.
Resurrection Christian’s team of Reese Peterson, Maddie Evans, Addison Barker and Tatum VanPelt placed fourth (1:46.12) in the 3A girls 800 relay, while Eaton’s team of Lyla Kammerer, Siri Rasmussen, Skyelyn Lefever and Mckenzie Powell was ninth (1:49.29).
Prairie’s team of Hunter Johnson, Tyler Troudt, Cash Stroud and Lane Schock was sixth (1:36.28) in the 1A boys 800 relay. Dayspring Christian’s quartet of Jadon Olaniyi, Max Krehbiel, Owen Crust and Hawkins Flanagan was seventh (1:34.34) in the 2A boys 800 relay.
Weld Central senior Megan Hopp was fifth (126′ 3″) in 3A girls discus.
Greeley West freshman Eli Tickner was sixth (19′ 9.5″) in the Special Olympics/Paralympic mixed shot put (19′ 9.5″). Roosevelt senior Isaiah Sprague was third (14′ 1″) in the Special Olympics/Paralympic mixed long jump.
Platte Valley junior Leeandra Natotschi was ninth (21′ 2″) in the Special Olympics/Paralympic mixed discus.

Action wrapped up Saturday with plenty more local highlights and a slew of state champions.
Windsor junior Kiana Cumings continued her fine state meet with a first-place finish in the 4A girls 400 (54.92), comfortably defeating Mead’s junior runner-up, Rylee Klatt (56.38). Cumings proceeded to also win the 200 (23.96) over Holy Family’s junior runner-up, Claire Tannehill (24.37).
Windsor’s team of Cumings, Madelyn Von Tersch, Reyleigh Hess and Maya Brasch won the 4A girls 1,600 relay with a 4A record time of 3:48.21.
Resurrection Christian sophomore Tatum VanPelt won the 3A girls 100 with a new personal record (12.28). University junior Jordan Halley placed fifth (12.53) in the same event. VanPelt was also second (25.49) in the 200, recording a personal record to place just one spot behind Classical Academy senior Heidi Nielsen (25.24).
Resurrection Christian senior Jackson Fagerlin won the 3A boys 1,600 with a time of 4:26.43. Two other local athletes made the podium in the event: Resurrection Christian freshman Lincoln Fagerlin (3rd, 4:29.37) and Frontier Academy junior Matthew Hayden (4th, 4:30.40).

Resurrection Christian senior Joy Koole was fifth (5:10.84) in the same event.
Windsor’s Brasch, a junior, was the runner-up (11.83) in the 4A girls 100 behind Holy Family’s Tannehll (11.75). Brasch also placed third (24.44) in the 200.
Roosevelt senior Jayden Nohr finished third (10.93) in the 4A boys 100. Roosevelt’s squad of Gabe Santos, Nohr, Evan Hays and Colten Schlagel was seventh (42.57) in the 4A boys 400 relay.
The Rough Riders team of Tanner Parham, Kylie Baca, Braelyn Bailey and Taegan Olson was fourth (48.67) in the 4A girls 400 relay. Windsor’s squad of Leena Ortiz, Von Tersch, Olivia Cruz and Caidin Steele was sixth (49.38) in the same event. Roosevelt’s Bailey was also ninth (34′ 9.5″) in 4A girls triple jump.
Briggsdale senior Kaeden Gebauer was the runner-up (23.01) in the 1A boys 200 behind Haxtun senior Ryland Wolff (22.78). Prairie sophomore Hannah Kugler was the runner-up (5′ 2″) in 1A girls high jump behind Evangel Christian sophomore Liz Arrington (5′ 4″). Kugler’s Mustang teammates, sophomore Macie Jaeger (4′ 10″) and freshman Amelia Stroud (4′ 8″), were eighth and ninth, respectively, in the same event.
Roosevelt sophomore Owen Hays was the runner-up in the 4A boys 300 hurdles with a personal record (37.81), finishing behind only Longmont senior Teagan Malcom (36.94). Hays’s freshman Rough Riders teammate Houston Howell placed sixth in the same event with a personal record (39.86). Hays also placed fourth (14.72) in the 4A boys 110 hurdles (14.72).
Greeley West junior Valeria Calzada placed fourth in 4A girls shot put with a personal record (36′ 1.75″). Windsor junior Kylie Becker was eighth (35′ 4.75″) in the same event.
Frontier Academy senior Amir McDonald was fourth (22.46) in the 3A boys 200, while University sophomore Ethan Baker was fifth (22.57).
Windsor’s Hess, a senior, was fifth (44.63) in the 4A girls 300 hurdles. Wizards junior Thales Price placed seventh (43′ 4″) in 4A boys triple jump.
Roosevelt’s team of Howell, Tony Siedenburg, Adriel Guzman and Hays was fifth (3:24.12) in the 4A boys 1,600 relay, one spot above Windsor’s team of Jack Rourke, Michael Webb, Whitten Lewis and Price (3:26.70). The Rough Riders squad of Madison Kage, Abby Leibman, Makaylee Meyer and Sydney Ludington was seventh (4:04.95) in the 4A girls 1,600 relay.

The Eagles’ team of Jadon Olaniyi, Martin, Easton Silva and Hawkins Flanagan was the runner-up (43.64) in the boys 400 relay, a hair behind Holyoke (43.61).
Briggsdale senior Kayl Klem placed fifth (17.15) in 1A girls 100 hurdles. Klem was also sixth (49.59) in the 300 hurdles. University senior Ava Dominguez placed fourth (15.81) in 3A girls 100 hurdles. Dominguez was also sixth (47.02) in the 300 hurdles, one spot ahead of Eaton sophomore Siri Rasmussen (47.41).
Prairie junior Tyler Troudt was seventh (11.73) in the 1A boys 100, while his senior teammate Lane Schock was ninth (11.92) in the same event. The Mustangs team of Hunter Johnson, Troudt, Cash Stroud and Lane Schock was fifth (46.02) in the boys 400 relay.
University sophomore Ethan Baker placed sixth (10.99) in the 3A boys 100. The Bulldogs team of Sullivan Gesso, Brevon Doss, Bertram Harvey and Baker was third (43.07) in the boys 400 relay. Frontier Academy’s quartet of Ethan Allshouse, Caeden Stanley, Henry Vickerman and Amir McDonald (43.56) finished one spot behind University in the boys 400 relay.
Eaton’s team of Lyla Kammerer, Zoey Hall, Skyelyn Lefever and Mckenzie Powell was the runner-up (49.95) behind the Classical Academy (48.86) in the 3A girls 400 relay. University’s squad of Dominguez, Kennedy Sharp, Cadence Schedlbauer and Jordan Halley finished fourth (50.38) in the same event.
Resurrection Christian senior Evan VanPelt was fifth (39.70) in the 3A boys 300 hurdles, while Weld Central junior Cody Powers finished seventh (40.26) in that event.
Weld Central sophomore Sophie McNitt was fourth in 3A girls high jump (5′ 1″). Resurrection Christian sophomore Trevor Lim placed eighth (50.21) in the 3A boys 400. Severance sophomore Jonah Beck finished ninth (22.59) in the 4A boys 200.
Eaton senior Ryan Martinez was fifth (43′ 0.25″) in the 3A boys triple jump, while University’s Harvey, a senior, was seventh (41′ 9.25″), and Resurrection Christian senior Garrett Beall was eighth (41′ 2.75″).
Weld Central junior Zach Francis Gould was fifth (143′ 7″), while Valley sophomore Steven Stambaugh Jr. placed seventh (136′ 8″), in 3A boys discus.
Resurrection’s team of Lim, Ryan Olson, Lincoln Fagerlin and Jackson Fagerlin was fifth (3:25.34) in the 3A boys 1,600 relay.
Highland’s quartet of Abbie Martinez, Billie Mick, Morgan Lindstrom and Austyn Bingley was eighth (4:18.63) in the 2A girls 1,600 relay.
Briggsdale senior Kaeden Gebauer was ninth (18′ 1″) in 1A boys long jump.
TEAM STANDOUTS
When the dust cleared at Jefferson County Stadium on Saturday, numerous local teams were among the top 5 in their classification’s standings.
Windsor scored 79.5 points to place second behind juggernaut Niwot (148) in the 4A girls team standings.
Roosevelt was second (56) in the 4A boys standings, also behind Niwot (98).
Resurrection Christian was second (79), behind The Classical Academy (118), and University placed fifth (48) in the 3A boys standings.
University was fourth (56), while Resurrection Christian placed fifth (55), in the 3A girls standings. The Classical Academy also topped those standings with 103.5 points.
