KSI was signed to face Conor McGregor but the UFC star elected to pull out at the final hurdle.
That is according to KSI’s manager Mams Taylor, who was directly involved in negotiations to make the fight happen.
KSI and McGregor sealed a deal but it fell at the final hurdleSaudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh became involved as he tried to lure both fighters into a huge ring showdown set at Alcatraz Prison.
‘The Nightmare’ held talks and signed for his part in the fight, a separate deal with Alalshikh.
And it was reported that a deal was concrete and sealed from both sides.
But the commercial blockbuster fell at the final hurdle and failed to materialise.
And Taylor has exclusively claimed to talkSPORT.com that it was from McGregor’s side of the table where the plug was pulled.
He explained: “We were told it’s on and the deal is done.
“We had our meetings with Turki Alalshikh and went back and forth on the negotiations from our side.
“We agreed a deal, it went great and then they said the deal with Conor was already agreed.
“I don’t know exactly how it happened, but it sounds like he had a change of heart from their side.
“Maybe it was because he wanted more money. But it’s such a massive fight, I’m not mad at anyone.

“I think it was there after calls, we were in and KSI was very excited about that fight.”
KSI hasn’t fought since losing to Tommy Fury in October 2023, but was clearly highly motivated by the chance to face McGregor.
The pair have history having exchanged words in the past over the potential clash.
He was also set to face McGregor’s teammate Dillon Danis but the clash collapsed.
McGregor hasn’t fought in any combat sport since his UFC trilogy defeat to Dustin Poirier in 2021.
KSI hasn’t fought since his loss to FuryGettyThe Irishman has previous experience in the squared circle, however, having fought Floyd Mayweather in a lucrative bout in 2018.
And despite the collapse, Taylor is confident the bout will eventually happen.
He added: “I think this fight with McGregor, you’d get the best KSI and the best promo.
“So for me, I want him in that mindset whenever he fights and that is what he wants to do.
“It is something that I’m hopeful will stay in the future so let’s see.”
