De La Salle captured its 11th North Coast Section golf championship, and seventh in Division I, on Monday as the Spartans finished with a team score of 358 to defeat runner-up Dougherty Valley by 14 strokes at Rancho Solano in Fairfield.
Josh Kim’s 68 led the way for De La Salle.
Barron Beinke chipped in with a 70 and Drue Sanchez and Tavin McKinley each shot 73.
The title was the Spartans’ fifth in a row over the past seven years. The championships were not contested in 2020 and 2021 because of the pandemic.
Tamalpais’ Ben Friedman, who shot a 67, was the top individual. Dougherty Valley’s Nakul Shrivastava took second and Foothill’s Sean Kwok was third. Shrivastava and Kwok also finished at 67.
De La Salle, Dougherty Valley and Foothill advance to the NorCal regional championships on May 27 at Berkeley Country Club in El Cerrito.
Friedman, Berean Christian’s Carson Limpus (68), Tamalpais’ Hayden Thill (69) and College Prep’s Will Chang (71) also moved on to the regionals.
Heritage’s Ryan Perry had perhaps the highlight of Monday’s championships. Using driver on a 250-yard Par 3, he fired a hole in one.
