TARGET is set to make three major changes to stores following a tough few months of customer boycotts and price rises.
The major US retailer has seen a challenging start to 2025, and has made big moves to get shoppers back on side.

In March, The US Sun reported on the 40-day boycott following a controversial move by the retailer.
It came after Target walked back on its DEI initiatives or diversity, equity and inclusion.
Since returning to the White House, Donald Trump has cracked down on DEI, claiming that it got rid of induvial opportunity for Americans.
A statement said: “Billions of dollars are spent annually on DEI, but rather than reducing bias and promoting inclusion, DEI creates and then amplifies prejudicial hostility and exacerbates interpersonal conflict.”
Initially, Target reaffirmed its commitment to DEI, only to walk back on that along with other companies like Amazon, Google and Walmart.
Target ended its DEI initiatives, including ending its program focused on aiding Black employees build their careers.
It also scrapped its hiring goals for minority employees and terminated an executive committee focused on racial justice.
A boycott from March 5 lasting 40 days was the result, with pictures of clothes thrown over the floor in protest coming out of multiple Target spots across the US.
PRICE PROBLEMS
Problems for the retail industry, and Target specifically, have compounded in recent days due to more Trump policies.
The US Sun reported that a major price hike has been spotted in stores and is being blamed on the President’s tariff plan.
A worker at Target shared a dramatic price increase of a USB-C cord from the store’s in-house Heyday brand.
It had gone up from $9.99 to $17.99, a markup of 80%.
All of the Heyday products are now said to be rising in price, and shoppers are feeling the effect of the tariffs properly for the first time.
One shopper said on Reddit: “I’m kinda scared to do back to school shopping in July and August.”
The CEO of Target had previously shared a price warning with shoppers: “Those are categories where we’ll try to protect pricing, but the consumer will likely see price increases over the next couple of days.
“If there’s a 25% tariff, those prices will go up.”
A DIFFERENT TARGET
As a result, Target is pulling out major moves to get shoppers back on side.
For example, the chain is opening up a brand new store in a key state that will tailor itself to the guest experience.
The US Sun recently reported on the new space to go up in Brown Deer, Wisconsin that will anchor an area called The Marketplace of Brown Deer.
The shopping area is set to be improved too, with Target at the center of it.
Plans include apartments as well as additional commercial space, set to be up by the end of 2026, with more details are expected soon.
NEW ITEM
On top of this, Target is making a big change at shelf level that will change how you shop.
The second out of the three changes is the introduction of Blueland products, an eco-friendly cleaning product company, as covered by The US Sun.
Items that are now available include dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, toilet bowl cleaning tablets and a hand soap starter set.
The environmental products are priced between $6.99 and $13.99, and makers a big move in making products like these more accessible.
Sarah Paiji Yoo, CEO and co-founder of Blueland, said: ” Expanding into large retailers like Target allows us to meet consumers where they are, making it even easier for them to switch to products that are better for their families and the planet.
“This decision underscores our commitment to making safe, high-quality cleaning products available for anyone who wants them.”
HUGE SALES
The third and final change Target customers can make the most of right now is the huge summer sales coming to stores,
The US Sun reported on the thousands of new items dropping at Target this summer, from just $1.
Items include everything you could want for the warmer season, like swimwear, outdoor entertainment, snacks, beauty, home goods.
Also, Target’s “Hello Summer” event is now on until May 26, with deals up to 50% off.
This includes things like 40% off women’s dresses and skirts, 30% off men’s tees, tanks and shorts and BOGO 50% off kid’s sleepwear.
