On Sunday, May 18, Prince Edward, 61—the youngest of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip's four children—stepped in for the British monarch, 76.
Edward represented the royal family at the Mass led by Pope Leo in St. Peter's Square in Vatican City. He was joined by 200,000 others, including many other world leaders, GB News reported.
Not only did Leo deliver his first homily as Pope but just 10 days earlier, he became the first-ever American Pope when he was elected on May 8. The decision came after Pope Francis died on April 21 at age 88.
