Weld County commissioners proclaim May as Foster Care Month ...Saudi Arabia

Sport by : (GreeleyTribune) -

The Weld County Board of Commissioners recently proclaimed May as Foster Care Month.

The proclamation acknowledges the Weld County families opening their homes to care for more than 70 children and youth in out-of-home and non-kinship care.

Among the Weld families assisting the community is the Troyer family. The Troyers were recently honored by the Colorado Department of Human Services for their 27 years of service. During that time, the family has cared for more than 60 youths by adopting two sibling pairs, while maintaining relationships with several biological families after successful reunifications.

“Our hope is that more Weld County residents will be inspired by the Troyer family and others like them to consider making a difference for youth, children and families through foster care,” said Jamie Ulrich, director of the Weld County Department of Human Services.

Along with the Troyer family, child welfare staff and community partners attended a recent commissioners’ meeting where they were recognized for their efforts and work, according to a news release.

Youth for Christ, Weld County Faith Partnership Council, Bridge the Gap, Realities for Children, America’s Kids Belong and Timberline Windsor were also recognized.

“Today and every day, we want to recognize the strength and resiliency of Weld County foster families, our child welfare staff and our community partners, who contribute to a safe and healthy community for all,” Ulrich said in the release

Perry Buck, commissioner chair, also gave thanks to everyone in the foster care community and for everything they do for the children.

“There is so much love in this room, and I cannot thank you all enough for everything you do for children, day in and day out,” Buck said. “My heart is filled with gratitude for the DHS staff, the community associations and of course, the foster families. It takes a village to promote the well-being of children, and we have that in Weld County.”
