Tyson Fury’s manager, Spencer Brown, is confident his client will come out of retirement for the Oleksandr Usyk trilogy.
Fury hung up his gloves in January after falling to a second consecutive fight against Usyk on points.
Usyk outpointed Tyson Fury twice last year in his last two fightsGettyTaking to social media at the time, he said: “Hi everybody, I’m going to make this short and sweet.
“I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing, It’s been a blast.
“I’ve loved every single minute of it, and I’m going to end with this. Dick Turpin wore a mask. See you all on the other side.”
The reference to Dick Turpin, a famous English Highwayman, is a witticism to him being ‘robbed’ by Usyk in both fights.
Fury controversially claimed that Usyk only won their inaugural encounter because his home country of Ukraine was at war.
The Mancunian is still chomping at the bit to exact his revenge and his manager, Brown, believes a third meeting with Usyk is one of the only fights he would consider reversing his retirement for.
“He’s retired, but you never know with Tyson Fury,” Brown told Boxing News.
“He’s an enigma, isn’t he? I said a couple of tongue-in-cheek things last week.
“Tyson says stuff. Without him, it’s not as fun as it was with him.
“He is enjoying himself at the moment, he’s got a lot of work on.
Fury retired in the aftermath of his second loss to UsykMark Robinson / Matchroom Boxing Fury’s manager thinks he will come out of retirement to box Usyk for a third timeGETTY“But if he gets his head around it and he is happy, then maybe you will see him back.
“If there is enough money there, it’s all about risk and reward.
“But I think he would come out for Usyk. You’d have to give him a lot of money for that one, but I think he would come out for Usyk.”
This comes after Fury gave the biggest indication he would be returning to the ring yet by uploading a video to social media of him and his long-time trainer SugarHill Steward.
“Just in the gym. I just bumped into somebody you might know,” he said before turning the camera to Steward. “You know what is coming.”
Boxing fans will be hoping the long-awaited all-British showdown with Anthony Joshua is on the horizon but a trilogy with Usyk could also be an appealing proposition given the competitive nature of their fights.
