Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc has been sidelined from Thursday’s media activities at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix after falling ill, the team confirmed in a brief statement issued on social media.
“Charles is feeling unwell and will not be coming to the track today,” the statement read. “He will rest and focus on recovering and we expect him to be in the car tomorrow.”
The Monegasque driver was not scheduled to participate in the official FIA press conference at Imola, but had been due to meet with the media in the paddock as part of his usual Thursday obligations. His first appearance at the circuit is now expected to come ahead of Friday morning’s opening practice session.
Ferrari did not provide additional details regarding the nature or severity of Leclerc’s condition, but the tone of the statement suggests optimism that he will be fit to race this weekend at the historic Italian venue.
Ferrari Introduces First Upgrades
The Scuderia is hoping for a strong home performance at Imola, particularly after a challenging outing last time out in Miami. The more traditional and technical layout of the Imola circuit is believed to be a better match for the characteristics of Ferrari’s SF-25 than the fast, low-grip street track in Florida.
Adding to the anticipation, Ferrari is also set to debut its first round of technical upgrades for the 2025 season this weekend. While the development package is not expected to be a major overhaul, it is seen as a key step ahead of a more significant update planned for the Spanish Grand Prix later this month.

Leclerc, currently fourth in the drivers’ standings, has been a central figure in Ferrari’s early season form and will be keen to bounce back at Imola, a track steeped in history and emotional resonance for the team and its tifosi.
His recovery will be closely monitored overnight, with fans and team personnel alike hoping he is back to full strength in time for Friday’s track action.
