A FLYER has slammed TSA for pulling her aside at airport security over a grocery store item that she says is completely legal.
The outraged traveler has blasted security for quizzing her about the “crazy” snack that she needed to bring for her health.
Influencer Chloe Gray was questioned by TSA for bringing strange item on flightTikTok/chloe.ggray GettyGray was traveling from New Jersey to California on an eight-hour flight[/caption]Influencer Chloe Gray was stopped at Newark Liberty International Airport for bringing a peculiar snack to the security line.
She made a now-viral TikTok explaining what happened after proving that her unusual treat was completely legal.
“I just got pulled aside by TSA for having ‘something crazy’ in my bag,” she told her followers.
“A whole rotisserie chicken.”
Gray said she brought the chicken to eat during her cross-country flight from New Jersey to California, People reported.
“I gotta get my protein in [during] the flight,” she said in the video, holding up the bird.
“This is how you give yourself a first-class experience without paying for first class,” she added.
The trip was eight hours with a layover, and she wasn’t taking any chances with plane food.
“This is going to hold me over for the entire day, pretty much,” she said.
Gray says she avoids airport meals due to health concerns and struggles with “food anxiety.”
“I get scared at the thought of being trapped for hours without something to eat, you could call it food anxiety,” she told People.
“For health reasons, specifically managing my blood sugar, I usually try to bring something on the healthier side to give me clean energy.”
She said her choice made sense both nutritionally and practically.
PERSONAL ITEM FLAGGED
The night before her flight, she grabbed whole rotisserie chicken from Whole Foods Market.
“I grabbed the chicken because it was conventionally packaged, it has a chic top handle which makes it easy to carry throughout the airport, and it’s easily disposable,” she explained.
“Some people travel with designer bags,” she said.
“But my designer bag just happened to be a bag of rotisserie chicken.”
The next day Gray still ran into trouble, after her personal item was flagged for inspection because of the chicken.
“The agent was very gentle, went through the food, and asked what it was,” she says.
TSA's 3-1-1 rule
The Transportation Security Administration regulates the amount of liquids, aerosols, and gels that flyers can bring through airport security with the 3-1-1 liquids rule.
The 3-1-1 rule consists of the following:
Each container of liquid has to be 3.4 ounces or less.
All liquids have to fit in one clear, quart-sized, resealable bag.
Finally, passengers can only bring one bag of liquids each.
PEOPLE SHOCKED
The video has been viewed over 458,000 times till now, and has over 22,000 likes and 745 comments.
But not everyone thought it was a smart move.
“No-fly list,” someone wrote, calling for her and her chicken to be banned.
“Someone sitting next to me on a plane pulling out a rotisserie chicken would be my last straw,” another said.
“The strong smell on the flight is diabolical,” one viewer commented.
“I fear I’ve never sided with tsa before this,” said another.
“Yeah they should’ve confiscated it cause girl think of everyone else,” one more person commented.
“Nooo the strong smell on the flight is diabolical.”
“I’d actually hate to smell this for a whole flight and this comes from someone who loves a Whole Foods chicken.”
