The Los Angeles Lakers are hiring.
After an uninspiring early five-game exit in the first round of the playoffs, the Lakers are looking to bring new blood into the organization.
JJ Redick and Luka Doncic both had underwhelming playoff debuts as members of the Lakers franchiseGettySpecifically, into their strength and conditioning program.
The Lakers have posted a job ad looking for the title of Head Strength & Conditioning Coach, which will pay up to $250,000.
The job summary is as follows:
“The Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Los Angeles Lakers ensures that each player has an individually designed strength and conditioning plan to promote and support his maximum performance and health maintenance.
“This role implements, monitors and adjusts player workouts year-round as needed.
“In addition, the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach is responsible for motivating players and holding them accountable for their work in the weight room.
“Must be able to work well in a team, work irregular hours, and travel overnight for extensive periods of time.”
Nothing out of the ordinary for a role of this magnitude.
What isn’t in the advert is that the key focus would no doubt be getting star player Luka Doncic into shape.
It was no secret that Doncic struggled with his weight last season, which was rumored to be the reason why Dallas Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison traded him to the Lakers in the first place.
Doncic was out of shape last seasonGetty Luckily for Doncic, he has LeBron James to go to when it comes to advice for being in peak physical conditionHarrison believed Doncic’s work ethic was poor and not up to championship standard.
Whoever the Lakers end up hiring will be tasked with helping Doncic get in the best physical shape possible.
Head coach JJ Redick didn’t mince his words when speaking to the media after the Lakers season had come to an end.
“I’ll start with the offseason and the work that’s required in an offseason to be in championship shape,” Redick said.
“And we have a ways to go as a roster. And certainly, there are individuals that were in phenomenal shape.
“There’s certainly other ones that could have been in better shape.

Championship shape.
LeBron James — the 40-year-old wonder — is in championship shape.
The problem with the Lakers is that their 26-year-old superstar was nowhere close to it.
And now the proud purple and gold franchise have put out the bat signal to LinkedIn and TeamWorkOnline.
Hoping that whoever comes in can get Doncic fighting fit. If they do, they will be worth every cent.
