(PINPOINT WEATHER) -- Monday is a Pinpoint Weather Alert day due to the rain and storms plaguing the start of the work week. Ponding and pooling will be issues as flood concerns increase throughout the day.
Temperatures have settled into the low to mid-60s across the Carolinas, which is warmer than how we typically start a mid-May morning. Rain and storms will increase from this morning into this afternoon as winds continue to flow out of the south and east.
Look for periods of heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms to roll in throughout the day, giving us the potential to see some damaging winds and localized flooding. We’ll see a Marginal Risk for Severe Weather parked just to our south, with the bulk of the impacts staying out of our area.
Highs will settle in the low 70s as winds pick up out of the southeast. Wind gusts could be as fast as 22 miles per hour at times as rounds of rain linger into this evening. Lows will dip into the mid-60s overnight heading into Tuesday as moisture stays locked in across the Southeast.
We can expect rounds of rain and isolated storms to stick around Tuesday as the upper 70s take hold. We’ll see the low-pressure system dissipate by mid-week with warmer temperatures moving in. Thursday will see highs rebound back into the mid-80s as a BIG warm-up takes hold for the second half of the week.
Highs will touch 90 degrees on Friday before 80s and partly cloudy skies settle in for the weekend.
