The 2025 BMW X5 M Competition SUV ...Middle East

News by : (mercury news) -

What is an X5? The X5 is a midsize luxury crossover SUV built in the Spartanburg, South Carolina assembly plant and sold in North America by BMW. And what is the M Competition Edition? The 2025 BMW X5 M Competition model is a high performance SUV featuring a 617 horsepower twin turbocharged V8 gas engine with 48 volt mild hybrid technology, bolted to an 8 speed M Sport transmission. This engine and transmission is designed for a very sporty on road driving experience and for spirited track racing too.

The 2025 BMW X5 is a great choice for a luxury SUV due to its blend of performance, practicality and advanced technology, offering a satisfying driving experience with a range of powerful engine options and a luxurious interior. The 2025 BMW X5 comes in five different trim levels: the X5 sDrive40i, X5 xDrive40i, X5 xDrive50e, X5 M60i, and the X5 M Competition. The X5 is an SUV that offers more interior space and a range of engine choices, including a plug in hybrid, then all of the competition in this size class.

To prove that point, this week BMW sent me a 2025 X5 SUV to test drive and review. This M Competition model has a base window sticker price of $124,800. The options on the test SUV are: the special paint for $3,500, the driving assistance professional package for $1,700, the executive package for $3,100, the Bowers & Wilkins audio system for $3,400 and the M drivers package for $2,500. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP), including the $1,175 destination charge, is: $140,175.

After adding in the state and local sales tax, plus the DMV and dealer fees, the out the door and in your garage total purchase price came to: $157,697. At just $303 bucks under $158 Grand, this X5 is the top tier M Competition SUV model with every option BMW offers. Here’s a more detailed breakdown of what you get for your near $158,000 in cash.

Engine: The 2025 BMW X5 M Competition SUV has a 4.4 liter twin turbocharged 32 valve V8 gas engine with e-Boost and double variable valve control, and it makes 617 HP and 553 lb-ft of torque.

Transmission: The X5 Competition has an 8 speed M Sport automatic transmission with Drive logic digital shifting and steering wheel mounted carbon fiber shift paddles.

Drive train: All M5 Competition models have an M tuned xDrive  all wheel drive (AWD) traction control system, calibrated for high performance race track and on road driving.

Acceleration: The X5 M Competition SUV can go from 0 to 60 mph in only 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 177 MPH.

Brakes: The X5 Competition has M compound 4 wheel ventilated anti-lock brakes with cross drilled rotors and dynamic brake control, and can stop from 70 MPH in about 157 feet, and from 100 MPH to 0 MPH in around 325 feet. That’s some really strong brakes.

Hybrid Technology: The X5 comes with 48V mild hybrid technology for engine start and stop, for better fuel economy and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.

Suspension:  The X5 M Comp has the professional adaptive suspension system with active roll stabilization for enhanced handling and ride control.

Exhaust: The X5 M Competition edition has an M Sport exhaust system for a more aggressive sound with the push of a button. Read that to mean it bypasses the mufflers and resonators for that all-out full-throttle roar that only a V8 gas engine can make.

Not to be outdone by speed and power alone, the X5 M Competition excels in luxury and comfort, starting with power heated multi-function front seats with backlit M logos and front seat memory, a heated 3 spoke leather wrapped M Sport steering wheel, a curved digital screen with head-up display operated by voice, the touch screen, or the iDrive controller, a panoramic moon roof, a digital key, remote engine start and entry, a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System with a 20 channel amplifier and 1475 watts of power, driving 20 perfectly placed speakers, including 4 diamond Nautilus tweeters and 2 Rohacell subwoofers.  It’s the best buy audio system for the money.

The 2025 BMW X5 M Competition offers a thrilling, high performance SUV experience with a focus on agility and power, though it prioritizes performance over pure comfort, resulting in a firm ride and a sporty, very engaging, everyday driving experience.
