Mississippi State is fighting to make the NCAA Tournament.
The Bulldogs have spent much of the 2025 season on the bubble to make the field of 64. With a recent sweep of Kentucky following MSU’s dismissal of coach Chris Lemonis, the Diamond Dawgs have been projected to make the NCAA Tournament. But they still need SEC wins to make it happen.
Mississippi State entered its weekend conference series with Ole Miss at 10-14 in SEC play, with 13 conference wins traditionally considered the requirement for an at-large bid. MSU got off on the wrong foot in the series, falling 10-4 to the Rebels in Game 1. Evan Siary stepped up to get the Bulldogs back on track in the doubleheader.
Siary pitched a gem. He went 8 scoreless innings, striking out 15 Rebels on 98 pitches without issuing a walk. Thanks to Siary’s dominant outing, MSU secured a 4-1 win to even the series and improve to 11-15 in SEC play.
