Charter a Boat
So much of the island’s splendor lies below the surface, and there’s no better way to see it than on a boat. If you’re looking for a private boat ride for just you and your family (or partner), book the Caicos Explorer. It comes with a local driver who will take you to some of the island’s hidden hotspots, like the La Famille Express shipwreck or Captain Oaks Floating Tiki Bar. If you’d prefer to socialize, book a sunset cruise on the Lady Grace, a luxury catamaran complete with a slide into the sea, an open bar and a picnic lunch service.
Snorkel & Scuba Dive
Arguably, one of the most popular things to do on Turks is to snorkel and scuba dive, thanks to the massive barrier reef that surrounds the island. Stretching 65 miles along the island’s eastern coast (and over 340 miles in total), this vibrant reef can only be reached by boat. When the conditions are right, the crystal-clear waters offer visibility up to 100 feet, giving snorkelers a front-row seat to an underwater world filled with reef sharks, stingrays, colorful tropical fish, eagle rays and even dolphins.
Nosh on Conch
There’s not a local on the island who won’t tell you to visit one of the island’s dry cave systems when on vacation. Conch Bar Caves are known for their Karst limestone cave formations, recovered Indian artifacts and animal skeletons, as well as four species of bats. Admission is $20 per person, and they recommend about an hour per visit. Outside of the main Conch Bar Caves, the surrounding area also boasts interesting things to see, including the open-air gallery of Indian Cave, sinkholes and blue holes.
Middle Caicos Co-Op Shopping
The largest handicraft souvenir market on the island, Middle Caicos Co-Op, is a must-visit for any take-home souvenirs. Founded in 1998 with just six artisans, the co-op is now home to over 60 artists selling locally made crafts. Straw-weaving is an art form here, and you can even watch locals weaving baskets, tote bags, fans and more from collected fanner grass and palm tops. Additionally, you’ll find things like painted conch shells, paintings, model boats, jewelry, bowls, ceramics and more.

History buffs will love the quaint and incredibly well-preserved Turks and Caicos National Museum, which has two locations: Grand Turk and Providenciales. Both locations offer similar experiences, including tours and artifacts, as well as community events like children’s clubs, quizzes, evenings with experts and more. Tickets are just $5 a person (with children under 11 being free), and donations are highly encouraged as it’s a non-profit organization.
Kiteboard & Paddleboard
If you’re not on the water in Turks, finding yourself as close to it as possible is typically the goal. And what better way to soak up the stunning scenery (and sunsets) than with a horseback jaunt? Provo Ponies offers a variety of horseback riding tours for people 7 and up and for all riding levels. Their 28 horses are all mostly local (from Grand Turk or other neighboring Caribbean islands) and are incredibly comfortable navigating the sand and water. Group rides start at $169 a person, while private rides start at $285 per person for 60 minutes. You can also book a special ride (think proposal or wedding photoshoot).
