Hours after reports emerged that Virat Kohli has communicated his decision to retire from Tests to the BCCI, the board has ended silence on the matter. On Saturday morning, reports claimed that the former Indian captain had made up his mind to end his career in the longest format of the game. If he does make it official, then Kohli will follow Rohit Sharma just ahead of the India vs England Test series in June.

As per NDTV, a BCCI official has claimed that the board has requested Kohli to reconsider his decision to retire from Tests. The source claimed that Virat was still fit and hungry, adding that his presence in the dressing room lifts up the mood of the players.
“He’s still incredibly fit and hungry. His presence in the dressing room lifts the entire team. We’ve requested him to take some time before making a final call,” a BCCI official said.
Virat wants to retire from Tests
As per The Indian Express, Kohli has made up his mind on retiring from Tests and has informed the BCCI. The board and the selectors have reportedly asked him to reconsider his decision. But, Kohli is yet to do so.
“He has made up his mind and has informed the board that he is moving on from Test cricket. The BCCI has urged him to rethink as the crucial England tour is coming up. He is yet to revert on the request,” sources told this newspaper.
The report further hinted at Kohli’s dismal run in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy being the trigger for him to contemplate retirement. With both Rohit and Kohli gone, India will comprise of just a couple of veterans, including Jadeja, Bumrah and Rahul. However, Virat is yet to make an official announcement.
