It’s Mother’s Day weekend, so it’s only fitting that the Watch With Us team has been on the lookout for some appropriate movie choices for this weekend.
Peacock actually has one of the many movies that share the name Mother’s Day, but we found two better examples for this week’s movie picks.
One of the three underrated Peacock movies to watch this weekend explores the relationship between a mother and her adult children, while another focuses on a mother and her young daughter.
But if you’re looking for an action comedy to enjoy during the unofficial holiday weekend, Ke Huy Quan‘s Love Hurts has just made its streaming premiere on Peacock.
8 Must-Watch Movies on Peacock Right Now (May 2025)
‘Love Hurts’ (2025)
Ke Huy Quan’s comeback hit a little snag when Love Hurts didn’t do very well in theaters. But it’s worth a second look now that it’s streaming. Quan plays Marvin Gable, a man who has already paid a high price for love. He fell hard for Rose Carlisle (Ariana DeBose), a lawyer he was supposed to kill. Instead of seeing that contract through, Marvin walked away from his life as an assassin and reinvented himself as a real estate agent, even though it alienated his brother, Alvin “Knuckles” Gable (Daniel Wu).
As far as Knuckles is concerned, Marvin betrayed the family when he turned his back on him. When Rose makes contact with Marvin, Knuckles sends assassins to get her location from him so he can finish the job. Instead of intimidating Marvin, these killers drag him back into the life he left behind and towards an inevitable showdown with Knuckles.
Love Hurts is streaming on Peacock.
‘I’ll Be Right There’ (2024)
The Sopranos‘ Edie Falco takes the lead in I’ll Be Right There, a drama in which her character, Wanda Jeannie, is constantly attending to her adult children, Mark (Charlie Tahan) and Grace (Jeannie Berlin), to help them fix the problems in their lives that they can’t handle themselves — which happens a lot.
What’s New on Peacock in May 2025
Wanda has spread herself so thin that not even having two different lovers, Marshall (Michael Rapaport) and Sophie (Sepideh Moafi), is emotionally fulfilling. Wanda needs to find some balance in her life that won’t let her children dominate her time. But she just can’t seem to bring herself to fight that battle.

‘Proxima’ (2019)
Eva Green is an actress who can pull off almost any role, and she’s once again mesmerizing to watch in Proxima. Green portrays Sarah Loreau, a woman who is on the cusp of achieving her dream of being an astronaut by training to spend a year on the International Space Station. However, the price of Sarah’s ambition is that she will be separated from her young daughter, Stella (Zélie Boulant-Lemesle), for the entire journey.
Stella really doesn’t make Sarah’s plans easy for her, and the emotional toll is weighing the worried mother down while her astronaut team leader, Mike Shannon (Matt Dillon), treats her with open hostility. Sarah can handle the intense training and unfair boss, but can she reconcile her relationship with her daughter before it becomes irreparably fractured?
