Denver Broncos release two veteran players on Friday

As the Denver Broncos took the field on Friday for the first day of rookie minicamp, the front office worked behind the scenes to get the roster to the league’s mandated 90-man designation.

Going into Friday, the Broncos were at 92 players total despite having an international player designation for second-year tight end Thomas Yassmin, who doesn’t count against the 90-man roster.

To make space, the Broncos released veteran punter Matt Haack and veteran long snapper Zach Triner, per the league’s transaction wire.

Haack signed in NFL Free Agency where it was ultimately expected he’d have competition in training camp, but with the Broncos drafting rookie Jeremy Crawshaw in the sixth-round of the NFL Draft, there won’t likely be competition at punter after all.

Triner was signed after Mitchell Fraboni underwent a back procedure this offseason, but with Fraboni set to be ready for OTAs and training camp, it was an easy decision for the front office to move forward to become roster compliant.

There’s a chance either Haack or Triner could return if the Broncos move on from any of the undrafted rookie free agents they signed after minicamp takes place.

Denver signed 15 undrafted rookies who all participated in Friday’s first day of rookie minicamp.

Kendall Bohler, DB, Florida A&M J.B. Brown, LB, Kansas Marques Cox, OT, Kentucky Joaquin Davis, WR, North Carolina Central Christian Dowell, NT, Tennessee-Martin Courtney Jackson, WR, Arkansas State Joe Michalski, OG, Oklahoma State Jerjuan Newton, WR, Toledo Joshua Pickett, DB, Duke Karene Reid, LB, Utah Jaden Robinson, DB, Oregon State Xavier Truss, OG, Georgia Johnny Walker, DE, Missouri Clay Webb, OG, Jacksonville State Kristian Williams, DT, Missouri

Every other Broncos rookie from the 2025 NFL Draft signed their rookie contracts except for first-round CB Jahdae Barron and second-round RB RJ Harvey, who have signed injury protection agreements with the team to participate in rookie minicamp.
