Jayden Higgins joined the Houston Texans when he was taken in the 2nd round of the 2025 NFL Draft after a successful college career.
On Thursday, the wide receiver put pen to paper for his rookie deal: 4 years and just over $11.7 million. That’s a shade under $3 million a year.
While that’s not unusual terms for a rookie, the contract is fully guaranteed, making Higgins the first second-round pick in NFL history to sign a fully-guaranteed rookie deal.
Higgins, originally a 2-star prospect from Miami, originally signed with Eastern Kentucky out of the class of 2021, totaling 1,151 yards and 13 touchdowns with the Colonels across 2 seasons. He then joined Iowa State ahead of the 2023 season and made 53 catches for 983 yards and 6 touchdowns, being named to the Big 12’s all-conference honorable mention team.
In 2024, he pulled in 87 catches for 1,183 yards and 9 touchdowns, ranking 4th in the conference in receiving yards. He was a 2nd-team All-Big 12 coaches’ pick after the season.
Higgins now joins a promising Texans passing attack led by CJ Stroud. Houston won the AFC South in 2024, beating the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card Round before falling to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Divisional round.
