THE Cleveland Browns already have an idea of who will be their starting quarterback.

The Browns have a crowded quarterback room, but one name is currently above the rest in the race for QB1.

Cleveland has a brand new quarterback room this year, making four acquisitions over the course of the offseason.

They signed veteran Joe Flacco to a one year deal, traded for Kenny Pickett from the Philadelphia Eagles, and drafted Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.

Deshaun Watson is also in the building, but he is expected to miss the season while recovering from a torn Achilles.

With so many names in contention for the starting quarterback job, it will be interesting to see what the pecking order is come preseason.

For now, the Browns have a preliminary idea of who will top the depth chart.

According to Sports Illustrated, 40-year-old Flacco has the best path to the starting job.

Flacco has previously played for the Browns, leading the team on a playoff run in 2023.

He started the final five regular season games that season, going 4-1 and passing for over 320 yards per game.

Flacco already knows the Browns system and will bring a veteran calmness to the offense.

Pickett presumably comes in at No. 2 currently after the Browns swung a trade for him.

He has experience as a backup quarterback, effectively coming in to relieve Jalen Hurts for two games during the Eagles’ Super Bowl run.

Pickett will likely have to outperform Flacco in training camp and preseason to take over the top spot.

The biggest question marks come from Gabriel and Sanders.

Gabriel was taken ahead of Sanders in the NFL Draft, coming in at the 94th pick versus the 144th pick.

The Browns probably won’t carry four quarterbacks into the 2025 season, so Gabriel and Sanders could be competing just to earn a spot on the roster.

Sanders’ Browns career has already gotten off to a rocky start after he was denied wearing his number.

Throughout his football career, Sanders has worn the No. 2 on his back.

That number is now retired by the University of Colorado.

However, Sanders has been denied by the Browns to wear that number as wide receiver DeAndre Carter currently wears it.

Sanders will instead rep the No. 12 on his back for the Browns.
