Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from Test cricket on May 7, during the ongoing IPL season. The 38-year-old shared the news on Instagram and clarified that he would continue to be available for One Day Internationals (ODIs). He will now be seen playing only in the 50-over format for Team India.
With his retirements from T20Is and Test cricket, Rohit revealed that his next big ambition is to compete in the 2027 ODI World Cup, which will be hosted in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. Rohit admitted that lifting the ODI trophy is still very much on his mind.
"Acha rahega agar aisa hua to (on adding the ODI World Cup to his cabinet) [It would be great if that happens]," he added.

Rohit Sharma Has Won Four ICC Trophies in His Illustrious Career

The Mumbai batter has established himself as one of the game’s most dominant players in ODIs. He has scored 11,168 runs in 273 matches at an average of 48.77, with 32 centuries, including three double-hundreds. His record-breaking 264 remains the highest individual score in the format.
