The Arizona Diamondbacks have been plagued by injuries early in the season, which has contributed to the team losing nine of its last 14 games, but one thing has been consistent — outfielder Corbin Carroll.
Carroll is not only leading the Diamondbacks offense, but he is atop among many statistical categories in MLB.
On Monday, MLB writer Jason Foster released this season’s first MVP poll and had Carroll in the top candidates for National League MVP.
Where does Diamondbacks OF Corbin Carroll rank in MVP voting?
Forty-six analysts were asked to cast their picks for early MVP picks in both the American and National Leagues. They were asked to rank their top five MVP candidates in each league, which followed the following point criteria: five points for a first-place vote, four for a second-place and so on.
Carroll ranked fifth among the National League candidates with no first-place votes.
Carroll has been one of baseball’s early surprises in 2025. He led MLB in homers for part of the first month, and he’s continued to rake extra-base hits all over the place, including an MLB-best four triples. In fact, Carroll’s 21 extra-base hits through Sunday were tied for second-most in baseball, and his 84 total bases ranked second only to Judge. He’s never hit more than 25 homers in a season, but he’s on pace for 43 this year. He’s also on pace for 124 RBIs, which would demolish his previous career high of 76.
The Diamondbacks outfielder is among the top of MLB in many categories—he is tied for second in home runs (11), fifth in OPS (.983), tied for first in triples (4), fifth in hits (46), and ninth in RBIs (28).
Is Corbin Carroll’s new swing the reason for his hot start?
The 2023 NL Rookie of the Year underwent a swing change this off-season and reaped its reward in the second game of spring training against the Cleveland Guardians when he hit a home run.
Since then Carroll has not looked back.

Carroll’s goal for the swing change: “Have a better hand position to fire from, keep my hands up higher a little later,” Carroll told Arizona Sports in February. “I think that’ll help with some sequencing stuff and having them in their spots.”
So far, the numbers support the tweak. Carroll is averaging a career-best 74.9 mph bat speed and has posted the highest fast swing percentage of his career at 48.2%. His barrel percentage (16.7%) and hard-hit percentage (56.5%) are also personal bests.
