Sky Sports F1 commentator Martin Brundle has lavished praise on Alex Albon, declaring the Williams driver to be “in the form of his life” following his outstanding performance in last weekend’s Miami Grand Prix.
Albon’s fifth-place finish, combined with teammate Carlos Sainz’s ninth, secured a valuable 12-point haul for Williams, marking the team’s second consecutive double-points finish in the 2025 season.
The Grove-based team’s remarkable start has already surpassed their entire points tally from 2024, with Albon sitting eighth in the drivers’ championship with 30 points.
The Miami race showcased Albon’s speed and tenacity, but also his confidence at the wheel of Williams’ FW47 around the Hard Rock Stadium circuit.
His ability to challenge top teams underscored the British outfit’s as a top midfield force, with Brundle noting the team’s competitive edge throughout the weekend.
But Albon’s performance was a testament to both his personal growth and the team’s technical progress, raising optimism for the remainder of the 2025 season.
Brundle’s Analysis
In his Sky Sports F1 column, Brundle highlighted Albon’s commanding drive.
“Fifth would fall to Alex Albon with another excellent and feisty race,” he wrote. “This means that Williams were the fourth fastest team on the day and had looked much like that all weekend.
“But for a Safety Car technicality in the Sprint, Albon would have scored another handful of points there too, and he is in the form of his life.”
Brundle’s comments reflect Albon’s consistency and aggression, which have positioned him as a standout performer in a fiercely competitive field.
The former F1 driver also touched on Sainz’s eventful race.
“Carlos Sainz in the second Williams had a few adventures and was carrying damage from first lap contact with his team-mate,” he added.
“VSC pit stop timing frustrations would mean that he'd end up behind the two Ferraris, indeed into the side of Lewis Hamilton's Ferrari after a rather ambitious attempt to run up the inside of the man who took his Ferrari drive on the final lap.
“No further action was taken on either driver for the contact, and they were deemed equally at fault for the 'avoidable contact'.”

“Had some really good pace, we were struggling with engine temperatures so [it] was just really important to get past Carlos and then we caught up the Mercs,” he explained.
“Honestly, we had really good pace, I was quite comfortable in my position. I would even argue George [Russell] got a little lucky with the VSC, otherwise a P4 was possible today.
“Crazy to say, also just amazing to be able to see the podium – I had George and Max [Verstappen] in my vision, in front of me the whole race without a Safety Car, so yeah that is just testament to the progress we are making at Williams. The track suited us clearly, but very happy.”
Williams’ Resurgence and Albon’s Leadership
Albon’s Miami performance was not just a personal highlight but a clear indicator of Williams’ upward trajectory.
The team’s ability to compete with established frontrunners like Mercedes and Ferrari, even briefly eyeing a potential fourth-place finish, underscores the strides made with the FW47.
Albon’s confidence in holding his own against race leaders Max Verstappen and George Russell without the aid of a Safety Car speaks volumes about his current form and the car’s potential on circuits that suit its characteristics.
Brundle’s glowing endorsement emphasizes Albon’s pivotal role in Williams’ revival, with the Thai-British driver demonstrating the skill and resilience that have silenced doubters from his earlier Red Bull stint.
As Williams continues to build momentum, Albon’s performances are proving to be a cornerstone of their ambitions, with fans and pundits alike eager to see how far he can carry the team in the races ahead.
