DENVER (KDVR) — Widespread rain will remain in the Denver weather forecast overnight Tuesday and continuing into Wednesday. Severe weather is not expected, and winds should not be excessive. While rain continues in the metro, moderate snowfall will continue for the foothills and mountains.

The metro Denver region may see an additional quarter to three-quarters of an inch of rainfall.
Additional snowfall potential through Wednesday.As for snow in the mountains, additional accumulations of 4 to 6 inches in the foothills will be possible, while some of the highest peaks and communities may see an additional 8 to 10 inches of snow by the end of Wednesday.
Weather tonight: Rain and snow continue
A chilly rain overnight.Temperatures will fall into the upper 30s and low 40s around metro Denver and the plains by Wednesday morning, so a cold rain is all that's expected in the lower elevations. The high country will see temperatures dip a few degrees below freezing.
Weather tomorrow: Rain gradually ends
A slightly warmer afternoon on Wednesday.Rain will gradually come to an end heading into the late afternoon and evening hours. There may be a few breaks in the cloud cover, which may help bump temperatures back into the middle and upper 50s.

Much warmer and sunnier temperatures return beginning Thursday when highs touch 70 degrees. Although there are still small chances for rain in the extended forecast, the overall outlook is for drier, warmer and sunnier conditions.
