A man was detained by police in Los Angeles after driving a vehicle through the gates of a Bel Air mansion thought to belong to Jennifer Aniston.

Officer Jeff Lee from the Los Angeles Police Department told CNN a white male in his 70s “ran his vehicle through the gates to the residence” at 12:20 p.m. on Monday, May 5, while the owner was at home.

The star’s security team “held the suspect” while awaiting police, Lee told the outlet. ABC News added that the suspect was then taken into custody and booked on a charge of felony vandalism. Officers are yet to determine whether the incident was accidental or intentional.

Us Weekly has reached out to Aniston’s representative for comment.

How Jennifer Aniston Found Lasting Happiness in Spotlight

Aniston bought the 10,186-square-foot mid century modern mansion for just under $21 million in 2012, before lovingly renovating it over the years along with her ex Justin Theroux. The property is secluded behind high walls and hedges, with privacy and security naturally being priorities for the A-list actress. Bel Air is a luxurious neighborhood, with Meg Ryan living close by too.

“Aesthetically, it was the furthest thing from what I wanted, but I immediately had the sense that it could work,” Aniston told Architectural Digest in 2018. “It’s hard to describe, but I felt a connection. I’m all about cozy. Sexy is important, but comfort is essential. Every corner you turn, you have an experience. Everywhere you look, you get a vista. We worked very hard to get that flow right.”

She added that if she wasn’t an actress, she would love to be an interior designer.

Aniston and Theroux got married at the mansion in August 2015, opening up their sanctuary to 70 of their loved ones, including maid of honor Courteney Cox and close friend Jimmy Kimmel, who officiated. The couple lived there together until their 2018 split.

Since their divorce, Aniston has continued to live alone — well, with her beloved rescue dogs — on the 3.4-acre estate which boasts sweeping ocean and city views, a guesthouse, swimming pool and vineyards. The main house has seven bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, along with a well-used home gym.
