Greeley city staff will host an open house on Thursday to discuss Phase 2 of the 16th Street Enhancement Project, which looks to bring wider, more even sidewalks and ample parking to enhance the community experience for residents and visitors alike.
The event will be held from 4-6 p.m. at Margie’s Java Joint, 931 16th St. City officials will inform community members and local businesses about timelines and construction, which was a point of frustration for some residents and businesses during Phase 1 of the project.
The first phase of construction, which involved underground utility work in the area, was completed in February . The second phase involves aboveground work on the transportation corridor and aesthetic upgrades such as roundabouts, sidewalks and additional parking.
The city anticipates beginning construction in mid-May and continuing throughout the summer. In an email, Greeley Communication Specialist Becca Vaclavik shared that the city’s goal is to complete all construction and the project by the start of the University of Northern Colorado’s fall semester.
The event is open to the public, and city staff members will be present to discuss timelines, impacts and more. Margie’s Java Joint and La Petite French Bakery will provide coffee and light refreshments.
