It’s the Miami Grand Prix this weekend, but Max Verstappen skipped Thursday’s media day as he is expecting the birth of his first child.
Despite winning the Drivers’ Championship four times during his F1 career, this will still surely be the greatest day of his life.

Will Max Verstappen miss the Miami Grand Prix?
No, Verstappen isn’t expected to miss the Miami Grand Prix.
The multiple champion landed in Miami on Friday morning on his private jet.
That means he’ll be ready to take part in practice, qualifying, the sprint race and the Grand Prix itself.
Verstappen and Piquet haven’t announced anything publicly, but it’s unlikely the Dutchman would be in the USA if his first child hadn’t arrived.
After he missed the media day, Red Bull released a statement.
It said: “Max will not be attending media day in Miami as he is expecting a baby.
“All is well, and he will attend the track tomorrow for the race weekend. We will not be offering any further comment at this time in respect towards the privacy of Max and his family.”
This is Verstappen’s first child with Piquet, though she already has a daughter, Penelope, from her previous relationship with former Red Bull F1 driver Daniil Kvyat.

And despite having a child of his own now, Verstappen revealed he has no plans to change how he drives.
Speaking about it recently, he said: “I have done it already, so it is not like it is completely new for me. Now, it is my DNA, let’s say it like that, but I think it is absolutely fine, and I know the baby will be in good hands anyway.
“So for me, you focus on your racing and then go back to your family.”
“I just wish him all the best,” Lewis Hamilton said in Thursday’s FIA press conference. “It’s such an amazing, special thing.”
He also added a nice anecdote: “I spoke to him briefly in Saudi and saw how excited he was. Big congrats to him.”
