Windsor 7, Poudre 1, in Fort Collins: Windsor bounced back nicely after suffering back-to-back losses in the past week against a strong Rocky Mountain team. After a scoreless first two innings, the Wizards broke the ice with a run in the top of the third and two more in the fourth. Meanwhile, standout senior pitcher Ethan Fillinger held Poudre in check, allowing one earned run on no hits, striking out 13 and walking two in six innings on the mound. Senior Mason Jordan led Windsor offensively, hitting 2 for 3 with two RBI and a double. The Wizards improved to 14-5 overall, 6-3 in Class 5A/4A Northern Conference play.
Eaton 15, Manitou Springs 5, Eaton 5, 6 inn., in Eaton: Eaton impressively shook off a rare two-game losing streak, improving to 12-6 overall. The game was tied at 2 early, and the Reds actually trailed, briefly, after Manitou Springs scored three runs in the top of the fifth. Trailing 5-4, Eaton scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth and five more runs in the sixth. Reds junior Greyson Clingan and senior Cooper Nider had three RBI apiece. Nider hit 5 for 5 with two doubles and three runs.
Dayspring Christian 14, Dawson 2, 5 inn., in Greeley: Dayspring Christian emphatically secured its third consecutive win, improving to 13-3 overall, 5-1 in 2A Mile High League play. The Eagles scored multiple runs in each of their four offensive innings. They out-hit Dawson just 7-5 but took full advantage of their scoring opportunities. Senior Josiah Rodriguez led Dayspring, hitting 2 for 2 with four RBI, two runs and a home run. Senior Gage Davis hit 0 for 1 but had three RBI. Davis also pitched all five innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits, striking out five and walking none.
Highland goes 1-1, in Wiggins: Highland split a doubleheader against Wiggins, losing Game 1, which was a league game, 1-0, before winning the second game, a nonleague game, 2-1. In the first game, the Tigers scored the game’s only run in the bottom of the sixth. They out-hit the Huskies 3-1. Junior Stetson Hendren had Highland’s only hit. Huskies senior Sawyer Morgan was strong on the mound, allowing one earned run on three hits, striking out 12 and walking three. In Game 2, Highland scored a run in the third and another in the sixth, not giving up a run until the bottom of the seventh. Senior Donovan Juarez had the Huskies’ only RBI, hitting 1 for 2. Hendren pitched six of seven innings, allowing no runs on four hits, striking out six and walking two. The Huskies moved their record to 12-5-1 overall, 5-2 in 2A Lower Platte League play.
Sterling 10, Platte Valley 5, 9 inn., in Kersey: Platte Valley went run for run with Sterling before the wheels came off in extra innings. The Broncos scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings. The Tigers scored five runs in the top of the ninth after a scoreless eighth. Senior Dagan Gomez hit 2 for 4 with two RBI and a double for Platte Valley. The Broncos fell to 12-7 overall, 5-3 in 4A/3A/2A Patriot League play.
Loveland 15, Greeley West 3, 5 inn., in Greeley: Greeley West suffered its fourth consecutive loss and fell to 5-15 overall, 0-11 in 5A/4A Northern Conference play. Loveland led 8-0 after a six-run top of the sixth and the Spartans were never able to regain contact. Freshman Nic Hernandez, sophomore Camdon Duplex and sophomore Isaiah Preciado each had a hit, a double and a RBI for West.
Girls soccer
Windsor Charter 6, Valley 1, in Gilcrest: Windsor Charter controlled this road match against an intracounty foe, scoring three goals in each half. Firebirds senior Dillan Brown had three goals and an assist. Sophomore Gwendolyn Dow added two goals and two assists. Junior Adriana Delgado had Valley’s only goal. Windsor Charter improved to 6-3-3 overall, 2-3-1 in 3A/2A Patriot League play. The Vikings suffered their eighth consecutive loss and fell to 3-11, 0-7.

Freshman Rylinn Barnhardt had two goals and three assists.
Frontier Academy 2, Liberty Common 0, in Greeley: Frontier Academy kept rolling, winning its 12th consecutive match, including its sixth consecutive win via a shutout. The Wolverines scored both of their goals in the first half. Junior Emily Gesick and senior Dani Douglass each had a goal for Frontier Academy. The Wolverines improved to 12-2 overall, 6-0 in 3A/2A Patriot League play.
Greeley Central 2, Wellington 0, in Greeley: Greeley Central won for the first time since March 15, snapping a nine-match winless streak. Junior Aaniya Davis and freshman Jordyn Beard had one goal apiece for the Wildcats. Greeley Central improved to 3-8-3 overall, 1-4-2 in 4A/3A Longs Peak play.
Weld Central 4, Fort Morgan 1, in Keenesburg: Weld Central emphatically snapped a three-match winless streak, improving to 4-9-1 overall, 2-3-1 in 3A/2A Patriot League play. The Rebels scored three goals in the first half and one more in the second.
Mountain View 5, Severance 0, in Loveland: Mountain View scored two goals in the first half and three more in the second half, while Severance was unable to get its offense going. The Silver Knights fell to 6-5-3 overall, 2-3-2 in 4A/3A Longs Peak play.
Flatirons Academy 10, Union Colony 0, in Westminster: Union Colony remained winless on the season in the second-to-last match of its season. The Timberwolves fell to 0-11-1 overall, 0-8 in 2A Mile High League play. Flatirons had eight goals in the first half and two more in the second. Union Colony junior goalkeeper Nadene Chacon had 19 saves.
Track and field
Highland hosts meet, in Ault: Highland hosted a dozen other schools during its annual Twilight Invitational. Wiggins won the girls team title (164 points), while Strasburg claimed the boys title (116). Dayspring Christian was third (106) in the boys standings and sixth (66.5) in the girls standings. University’s girls were fifth (75), while its boys placed 10th (14). Severance was seventh (49) in the girls standings and fourth (73) in the boys standings. Host Highland was eighth (29) in the girls standings and eighth (45) in the boys standings. Valley’s girls were 10th (22), and its boys were ninth (16). Prairie’s girls (3.5) and boys (1) were 12th.
University’s team of freshman Ellie Brown, senior Janay Kravig, sophomore Emily Cook and freshman Ashlyn Craig won the girls 3,200-meter relay (10:32.08). Their junior Bulldogs teammate Mia Mayo Abarca won girls pole vault with a height of 7 feet.
Highland junior Abbie Martinez won girls triple jump (32′ 6.5″). The Huskies team of freshman Jadon Schnell, junior Cody Watts, freshman Dorian Raehal and senior Stockton Hendren won the boys 3,200 relay (9:19.75).
Dayspring Christian junior Cooper Osmus won the boys 3,200 run (11:39.65). His junior Eagles teammate Elijah Martin won the boys 300 hurdles (41.73). Dayspring senior Owen McClanahan won boys triple jump (40′ 2″).
Severance senior Grayson Smith won boys pole vault (13′).
Fort Lupton competes, in Lakewood: Fort Lupton placed third (106 points) in the boys standings and sixth (22.5) in the girls standings during the Frontier League Championships at Jefferson County Stadium, the home of the state meet. Englewood (175.5) narrowly won the girls team title, while Lake County (157) won the boys title.
Among the highlights for Fort Lupton, the Bluedevils won the boys 800 relay (1:40.17) and the boys 1,600 relay (3:48.90). Fort Lupton senior Jovonni Carleton won boys shot put (39′ 6.5″).
Boys volleyball
Severance 3, Mountain View 0, in Severance: Severance continued to surge into the postseason, winning its 13th consecutive game and sweeping a team that it beat in five sets just a couple weeks ago. The Silver Knights won three tight sets, 27-25, 25-22, 27-25. Senior Matt Zenger led the way with 12 kills, two aces, two blocks and 10 digs. Severance improved to 17-6 overall, 14-0 in 4A Northern Conference play. It will play in its first regional tournament in the program’s four-year history Saturday. As the fifth seed of the 24-team postseason, the Silver Knights will play host to No. 20 Alameda and No. 12 Mullen for a chance to qualify for the state tournament May 8-10 in Trojan Arena on the Fountain-Fort Carson campus.
Windsor Charter 3, Arrupe Jesuit 0, in Windsor: Windsor Charter wrapped up its season with a quality win, improving to 8-10 overall, 5-9 in 4A Northern Conference play. The Firebirds won 25-13, 25-12, 25-18. Senior Aedan James had 17 digs, three blocks, six kills and two aces for Windsor Charter. Senior Nathan Leonard added 12 assists and nine digs.

University 4, Valley 1, in Gilcrest: University secured this hard-fought win against a solid Valley squad, improving to 15-3 overall, 6-1 in 4A/3A/2A Patriot League play. This was the Bulldogs’ seventh consecutive victory. Sophomore Max Davis led University, hitting 1 for 2 with two RBI and a double. Senior Preston Natividad went 2 for 4 with a run. University senior Will Korby was solid on the mound, pitching all seven innings and allowing one unearned run on two hits, striking out 11 and walking four. Valley fell to 9-10, 2-6.

Garrison struck out 12 and walking none, facing just 25 batters. The only Rebels batters that reached base did so on Reds errors or after being struck by pitches. Junior Malaki Dalpra led Eaton’s offense, hitting 1 for 3 with two RBI, a run and a home run. His senior teammate, Cooper Nider, went 2 for 4 with two runs, a RBI, a triple and a double. The Reds improved to 13-6 overall, 4-3 in 4A/3A/2A Patriot League play. Weld Central fell to 7-12, 0-7.
Fort Lupton 12, Greeley Central 7, in Fort Lupton: Fort Lupton had a midgame surge to secure this high-scoring nonconference win. Greeley Central led 2-0 through two innings. The Bluedevils emphatically turned the tide, scoring two runs in the third inning, three in the fourth and seven more in the fifth. They out-hit the Wildcats 11-5. Senior Jesse Ceretto led Fort Lupton, hitting 1 for 2 with three RBI and a run. His junior teammate, Josiah Gonzales, went 2 for 4 with two RBI and two runs. Sophomore Lupe Loma-Arteaga led Greeley Central, hitting 2 for 3 with three RBI and a triple. The Bluedevils improved to 7-12 overall. The Wildcats fell to 1-16.
Fort Morgan 9, Resurrection Christian 5, in Fort Morgan: Resurrection Christian suffered its first loss since March 27 at the hands of a fellow Patriot League heavy-hitter. Fort Morgan broke a scoreless deadlock with seven runs in the bottom of the third inning. The Cougars scored all five of their runs in the fifth and sixth innings after falling behind 9-0. Senior Weston Johnson hit 1 for 3 with two RBI for Resurrection Christian. Sophomore Colton Barber went 2 for 2 with a run and a RBI. The Cougars saw their nine-game win streak come to an end, as they fell to 12-5 overall, 6-2 in 4A/3A/2A Patriot League play.
Merino 13, Prairie 3, 5 inn., in New Raymer: After receiving a first-round bye, Prairie struggled in the 1A District 5 tournament’s second round against a strong Merino squad. The Mustangs trailed just 3-2 before giving up three runs in the bottom of the third and six more in the fourth. The Rams out-hit Prairie 16-5. The Mustangs fell to 10-6 overall.
Briggsdale goes 1-1 in districts, in Haxtun: Briggsdale picked up a high-scoring 23-13 win in five innings over Weldon Valley during the 1A District 5 tournament but was unable to maintain the momentum in its second game, falling to host Haxtun 20-0 in three innings. In the first game, the Falcons trailed 11-1 before scoring six runs in the bottom of the third and 13 more runs in the fourth. Briggsdale fell behind 10-0 in the first inning and 14-0 in the second inning of the second game. The Falcons moved their record to 4-9-1 overall.
Boys lacrosse
Windsor 7, Prairie View 4, in Henderson: Windsor’s late-season surge continued, as the Wizards won their third consecutive match and improved to 8-6 overall, 3-2 in 4A Northern Conference play.
Girls soccer
Valley 3, Fort Lupton 1, in Fort Lupton: Valley took a 1-0 lead in the first half and remained one step ahead of Fort Lupton in the second half, outscoring the Bluedevils 2-1. The Vikings snapped an eight-match losing streak, wrapping up their season at 4-11. Fort Lupton suffered its 11th consecutive loss and fell to 1-13 in its second-to-last match of the season.
